Creating Merits

We honestly need to create merits. Why, because nearly everything is a question of merits. We are helped because of our merits, we advance because we have the merits. We have what we have due to our merits. The more merits we have the more we are respected by the Divine Law, the Gods and human beings, and the more help, assistance, guidance, protection we attract.

What are Merits?

Merits are very simply put – values. Or to make a very simple analogy, merits are like coins, that instead of having a human monetary value, they have a universal cosmic value.

Just like coins that have a human monetary value, the more merits a person has the greater the person’s cosmic value and the more cosmic transactions can be made with those cosmic merits.

Another word for merits is cosmic capital. Our merits are stored in our dharma and are registered in the tribunal of cosmic law.

How to we Create them?

Merits are essentially won based on good actions, actions that were based on the nobility of the heart and the essence. These actions were generated by and carried out by the noble values of the heart. See below for an explanation of the noble values of the heart.

Basically we create them by working on two fronts. One front is by helping others in any way to make their life easier and happier and I want to stress that helping people spiritually is the way that pays the most. The other front is by working on oneself, by transmuting and by dying mystically.

Sacrifice is the Key!

The key here is sacrifice. When we sacrifice something of ourselves, whether it is our own time, our comforts, our energy, a desire, an ego, a fantasy, a pleasure for the spirit or for others we are creating merits.

Merits are of the Heart

By noble values we mean values that exist and seek expression by their own sake, not because of promise of a reward. For example, for love’s sake, because love is vibrating in the person’s heart and makes the person to act to benefit and help another.

How do we Lose them?

We lose them through our wrong actions, harming others and harming ourselves. By harming ourselves we mean strengthening the ego and going further away from the Being.

What are they Good for?

They are good for everything. They allow us to acquire all that we want, they protect us, they allow us peace, good health, good friendships, protection from suffering and paying our karma with pain and suffering and they also give us negotiating power to acquire spiritual faculties, knowledge, initiations and new stages on our spiritual path.

In Summary – Importance of Merits

We can not stress enough the importance of creating merits. If a person is without merits that person is in all the senses hanging by a thread. We have to use each day as way to create merits. Without merits we can easily get sick, we can even become gravely ill, we can be knocked over and put into hospital for weeks by a mosquito. Merits are the payment the Absolute gives to us when we serve Him, it is His way of paying us, so when we go to create merits we are serving him and so we are useful to Him and creation.

Kundry from Parsifal Unveiled - (3948)

The character Kundry is very unusual, and has a mysterious role in Wagner's opera: Parsifal. As master Samael explains, Kundry represents the archetype of the feminine. That mysterious yet extraordinarily powerful force that can raise a man to the heights of realisation or sink him into the abyss of failure.  Kundry in the opera takes on a few different opposing roles, one where she is the temptress that seduced the king of the Holy Grail: King Amfortas giving Klingsor the opportunity to steal the Lance of Longinus and wound his side. She then helps the wounded king searching for balms to heal the wound in his side, then she is again the temptress that tries to seduce Parsifal the young knight who tries to redeem the lost lance. When Parsifal is victorious destroying the castle of Klingsor Kundry changes roles to become a servant of the holy grail and the knights of the order of the holy grail. These are all aspects of the powerful feminine force that is varied and has many differe...

What is the Kundabuffer or Kundartiguador? - (405)

Introduction Gurdjieff and Master Samael spoke much about the Kundabuffer organ and a lot of what Master Samael said is pretty clear. This post is just about going over some of what he said. In the Quinto Evangelio, Master Samael also revealed many more details which do not appear in his books. Note, the Qunito Evangelio is a two tome compilation of transcriptions of many recordings of informal talks that Master Samael had with his students. English and Spanish Terms There are these two terms Kundartiguador and Kundabuffer which refer to the same thing. Kundartiguador is Spanish and Kundabuffer is English. I believe it was Gurdjieff who first introduced these terms in his book “Beelzebub’s Tales to his Grandson”. I believe “Beelzebub’s Tales to his Grandson” was not originally written in ether Spanish or English. So these terms Kundartiguador and Kundabuffer are translations where the word “Kunda” could not be translated and the ending "buffer" could b...

When We Speak Bad About Ourselves - Because of Self-Compassion - (2963)

Even Just Thinking Negative When we just even think, let alone speak about ourselves in a negative way, thinking things like: how we are really this and that bad and that is not at all what others see, that we are in capable, worth little, know nothing, can't do this and that, fail at this and that, a liar, a dreamer the list goes on... We can be 100% sure that self-compassion is behind this because pride by itself would never allow this.  In a case like this self-compassion taps into what pride hides from itself and others and exposes it. Feeling that it is doing job at ruining ourselves. Why It Does What It Does? Self-compassion does this sort of thing to avoid reprimand and to extract compassion from others. Self-compassion is about getting compassion for ourselves through others. It is set-up in relativity, using others as a reference point. Really the best thing that you can do for a person who is pitted against this ego is to ignore them, so that they can fa...
