Notes on the Origin of the "I" - (1422)

A Difficult Theme

This is certainly a very difficult theme to cover. For the main reason being that the actual events that took place and gave rise to the origin of the psychological "I" are so very, very remote. These events also, we are told, took place over hundreds of years, and so logically what we are left with now in this current time are various pieces of the puzzle, and the result of the puzzle.

A detailed sequence of events is unfortunately not available because it is so remote, but what is available is a synopsis of certain critical events and processes that took place.

These pieces of the jigsaw that we do have, are enough I believe to allow us an understanding of how and why we have the pluralised "I". Thank goodness that those key pieces of the jigsaw survived the "terrible night of the centuries" as Master Samael would say.

My aim for this post is to lay down all that I have come across (in one post) in relation to the origin of the "I", in effect trying to put together some of the critical pieces of the puzzle.

An Interesting Aside

Just as an interesting aside, we have the result of the various events that gave rise to the "I" in our own egos, alive within our psyche here and now. By studying them deeply we can certainly get an understanding of the nature of the events that took place, those several million years ago.

In this post I am also going to link those events directly to the nature of our psyche. Which proves that those events were real.

Disclaimer

Despite the reasons why we have the "I", the reality is that we have the "I" and if we want the development of the Divine inner presence dwelling within us, we have to work on dissolving it, whether it was our fault or not (yes it is said that some of the events that lead to the origin of "I" were not our fault but an error of the Gods, more about that later on).

1.) Lemuria

The events that gave rise to the origin of the "I" took place exclusively in Lemuria. Which according to our Gnostic studies was the name of the continent upon which the third root race of our planet unfolded upon.

Third Root Race and Third Sub-Race

Master Samael specifies for us that the events which gave rise to the origin of the "I" began during the time of the third sub-race of the third root race. In other words the third of the seven sub-races that unfolded upon the continent of Lemuria. 

It is important to know that condition of the Lemurian humanity was special. In the beginning of Lemurian root race, humanity we are told was still experiencing the golden age. The Lemurians did not have the pluralised "I" and so they were intimately connected to the Real Being dwelling within them.

A proposed map of the continent of Mu or Lemuria. Master Samael gives account that Lemuria took up nearly the whole of the area of what today is the Pacific Ocean. Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea are certainly remnants of Lemuria. Australia is a very very ancient land. Most of its surface has been been turned into a desert because of having been under the sun for so many hundreds of centuries. The real exotic and unmistakably different and vibrantly alive flavour of Australia is to be found in the North. Having been to Darwin, one can feel the conjunction of many alive and powerful esoteric forces. The North of Australia has a flavour so remotely different to that of Europe, America, Egypt, Asia, something so remotely ancient and unique. No doubt that is an inheritance from Lemuria. 

Eden

They were still very much in contact with Eden, which Master Samael says is a superior dimension of the planet Earth (it is actually the vital or etheric dimension of the Earth). A dimension beyond the physical and a dimension that we could call a heaven or paradise. In such a dimension peace and harmony reigned as did immortality. Sickness, death, war, conflict, borders, personal property etc. were totally foreign and unknown. 

The Lemurians lived in a paradisiacal state with of course a state of consciousness and level of Being to match. Unity reigned amongst the Lemurians until the separation of the sexes. It is also good  to know that the Lemurians Master Samael said, were 5 to 6 metres in height. 

Foolasnitamnian and Itoklanos Principles

To conclude this point, what is very important, is that the Lemurians before the fall lived under a principle called the Foolasnitamnian principle. Where they were given the necessary time to fabricate the superior existential bodies of the Being (solar bodies) which at that time was all that was needed to become self-realised (they had no ego so they didn't have to dissolve it). So the Lemurians (not sure if it was all of them) were working towards self-realiszaion according to this principle and once they had self-realisation they had the freedom to be less bound to the planet Earth. 

It was only after the Fall that they fell under the Itoklanos principle wherebye they served nature as do the animals and plants. Their life span was shortened and they were then subject to a limited number of lives to attain the self-realisation. If they didn't reach self-realisation they were sent into the process of involution that previously before the fall did not exist.

The lemurians were a mixture of those who had self-realisation and those that didn't. However, none of them had the ego and all of them were intimately connected to their Real Being, Monad or inner Divinity.

2.) Lemurian Hermaphrodites

In the beginning of the Lemurian root race, the Lemurian humanity were actually a race of hermaphrodites. Meaning that they had in their body both sexes. They had both the feminine and male sexual organ present in their body. Sexually speaking they were complete and if they wanted to reproduce they used their imagination and will and an egg Master Samael says was produced which later gave rise to the new baby Lemurian.

However the hermaphrodictic state of the Lemurians did not last for the duration of the race. It was in the third sub-race (3 of 7) that the separation of the sexes became a consummated fact.

Even today and throughout the history of this race, people have been born as hermaphrodites. Not very frequently but there have been cases. In those cases the male and sexual organs are typically aligned vertically, with the male organ being situated above the female organ. As shown in the following drawing.  Please take the following drawing scientifically and technically.

3.) Division of the Sexes

Gradual Process

Master Samael describes the process as it began to happen that a Lemurian hermaphrodite was born with one organ more developed than the other. This gradually over many years (Master Samuel says that it was thousands of years to almost one million years) became more pronounced until over centuries Master Samael explains it happened that the Lemurians were born with one sexual organ fully developed and the other organ missing from the Lemurian's constitution.

Master Samael Explains Why

Master Samael also explained that this was no random occurrence, there was a definite reason behind. He explained that the time came for the two principles to take individual expressions.

Here are some very precise excerpts taken from the transcriptions of some formal and informal talks that Master Samael gave.

Excerpt 1

"Disciple: What was the origin of the division of the sexes?
Master: The division of the sexes had to be realised owing to the divine entities, the Beings, needing to have separate a masculine and feminine vehicle for their own individual development and experience. This is the cause..."

Another Similar  Explanation

In the video documentary titled "Sex - the Secret to Eden", produced by Glorian Publishing (www.glorian.org) it is said that the division of the sexes occurred so that the two principles - masculine and feminine could see and know each other better. This was needed it is said so that humanity could grow spiritually. It was also remarked that the separation of the sexes is the root of all sexual yearning where both man and woman seek to reclaim their lost unity.

Rise of Duality

The separation of the sexes represented the definite physical presence of duality. Whenever there is duality the potential for the loss of unity arises. The potential for conflict and suffering also arises. Therefore, with the separation of sexes the potential for the fall and for suffering entered into reality.

There is never any conflict, suffering, sadness, difficulty, imbalance when there is unity.

Sexual Co-Operation

As soon as the sexes were divided sexual co-operation was needed in order to create and to create anew Master Samael says.

Just as an aside, one of the functions of lust is to assist in this process of sexual co-operation. This indicates the before the division of the sexes there was no lust. Lust is about sealing the pact of sexual co-operation, however the way lust does this is all upside down and for the wrong reasons, those devoid of authentic love.

4.) Process of the Materialisation of the Planet

The Lemurian race was very special because of the process that occurred during its time. As we may remember from the lecture titled: “Seven Rounds and Seven Races”, we know that creation unfolds in a sequence of rounds, moving down from the Absolute through the various dimensions to reach the physical and then ascend through the dimensions to be reabsorbed once again into the Absolute. The whole process of creation is like a great exhalation followed by a great inhalation.

During the race of Lemuria the Earth was condensing out of the fourth, etheric or vital dimension of the cosmos into the physical, the third dimension. In other words, the Earth was in the process of becoming physical, that is the process of fully developing its physical dimension.

This meant to the Lemurians that they were going to gradually lose more and more contact with the fourth dimension of the Earth. That is, they were going to lose certain significant spiritual benefits that the fourth dimension bestowed upon them, with one of them being immortality. In the fourth dimension there were less laws then there are in the physical world. By becoming entirely physical the Lemurians were going to lose their immortality and come under the influence of more mechanical and making life more difficult laws.

The Lemuruans even though once they were entirely physical they had a life span of 1200 to 1500 years Master Samael said, they were still not immortal. There were of course those who were immortal, because they had completed the Great Work to become immortal but the majority of the population was without self-realisation (created the solar-bodies) and so they did not have immortality.

This was process that had to be completed and there was no escape for the Lemurians that had to co-operate with this process. This process also meant certain modifications to their consciousness, basically it would cause the consciousness to suffer some losses.

5.) Resistance to Leave the Edenic State (threat of mass suicide)

Naturally there was great resistance amongst the Lemurians to leave the fourth dimension and become purely physically. They understood instinctively at this point that they were needed by nature to co-operate with this process and that they had no other choice. They also knew that what they all were cells whose function it was to absorb certain cosmic energies, transform them and transmit them to the Earth so that the Earth would receive the nourishment it needed to survive.

They did not like having to lose their immortality, and their consciousness to the physical senses and the reason for all of this to happen was just to continue the life of the planet and the unfolding of creation. There was naturally a great protest moving among the Lemurians and the threat of rebellion or mass suicide loomed in the air.

Something had to be done to continue with the process of creation and to quell this threat of mass suicide and rebellion. The solution was the Kundabuffer organ.

Straight away we can see here that the function of the Kundabuffer organ was to make the Lemurians by force of something introduced into their inner nature to accept the physical dimension that they were increasingly being introduced to, and to become happy living in the physical dimension. I will say more about this point in the section that follow. This function reveals quite a lot actually about the nature of the Kundabuffer organ, it tells us that it has a lot to do with physical sensations and fascination.

6.) Comet Condor

Gurdjief mentions that due to some miscalculations of the Divinities in charge of the movements of the planets, stars and comets, a very large comet called Condor collided with the Earth. Master Samael says that this collision occurred in the times of Lemuria.

Master Samael goes on to say that due to the collision the Earth’s crust became very unstable. There were constant tremors and Earth quakes and the Earth’s crust was in danger of severely cracking beyond repair. If that were to happen, certainly the survival of the Lemurian humanity was at great risk, as well as the life of the planet.

A solution to this problem had to be found and Gurdjief as well as Master Samael says that the solution to this problem came in the form of the Kundabuffer organ.

They explain that the kundabuffer organ was lunar in nature meaning that it would act as an antenna of sorts receiving the lunar forces in the cosmos and from the Moon and transmit them to the earth thus stabilising the constant tremoring of the Earth’s crust.

The lunar force by its nature is receptive, passive and stabilising, it is very different to the agitating and dynamic solar forces. This also goes to show us how important human beings are to the planet, human beings are powerful conductors of cosmic force. Actually if humanity were to disappear the Earth would perish. It is said that the Earth’s crust did stabilise thanks to the help of the lunar forces being channelled through the Kundabuffer organ of the Lemurians.

The lunar nature of the Kundabuffer essentially imparted to the Lemurians and to us a new second nature which was a lunar nature and the ego is certainly entirely lunar in nature. We will see this point later on.

7.) Introduction of the Kundabuffer Organ

In the previous sections the reasons for why the Kundabuffer organ was introduced has been touched upon. In this section I am going to bring them all together.

The problems that needed solving back then were the constant tremors and Earth quakes produced by the collision of the comet Condor with the Earth and the threat of mass suicide due to the rising discontent from the common realisation of the loss of immortality granted by the fourth dimension and the meaninglessness of life, which was perhaps the first expression of what is known today as depression.

A special committee of sacred individuals sent from other planets landed on the Earth to study what could be done to solve these two issues. The solution was the Kundabuffer organ which was designed to divert or transmit lunar forces to the planet, so to stabilise the earth's crust. It was also designed to fascinate the Lemurians with life, making them good citizens, loving nature, being kind to one another and forgetting about the past.

8.) Tempting Luciferic Entities in the Atmosphere

To make things worse, in the atmosphere back in those critical times were some Lucifer entities that as always were tempting in nature. One may ask where those Luciferic entities came from. They came from the past mahamanvantara into the current mahamanvantara. In the past mahamanvantara there were many failures as well as many triumphs and these Luciferic entities were from the those past failures. The Lemurians at this stage had not fallen so amongst the Lemurians there were no failures or Lucifer entities. 

These Lucifer entities tempted the Lemurians with the idea of performing the sexual act outside of the temples, and even worse, spilling the glass of Hermes (losing the sexual energy).

9.) Performing the Sexual Act Outside of the Temple

The Lemurians were guided by the Divinities ruling over the Earth and the Lemurian population in accordance with cosmic rhythms and cosmic laws and principles. The Lemurians were all guided to the temples on the night of a full moon to procreate, this is the origin of the "honey moon".

However, it occurred to some of the Lemurians that they would perform the sexual act outside of the temple and this gave rise to the native use of the sexual centre or the creation of the sexual libido.

10.) Pact of the Monads with the Inner Lucifer and the Fall

In order to develop the Kundabuffer organ and therefore facilitate the functioning of the Kundabuffer organ to solve the various problems present at this time in Lemuria, the sexual fall was needed. Master Samael says that if there was no fornication there would be no Kundabuffer. So the sexual fall was needed.

In order for this to happen the Lucifer of the Lemurians had to be activated, so that the sexual fall could take place. Master Samuel says that a pact was made between the inner Lucifer of each of the Monads of the Lemurians and the sacred individuals who were part of that commission sent from the Holy Absolute Sun.

The question now is really why the fall had to happen. The answer is karma.

11.) Karma from the Moon

It seems after reviewing much of what Master Samael says that the introduction of the Kundabuffer organ and the sexual fall was really something karmic. This karma is an inheritance from the Moon. Humanity in the previous cosmic living on the Moon accrued karma that had yet to be balanced and so the Earth having within it the soul of the Moon, the Earth inherited the karma from the Moon. Meaning that the Moon's karma is also the Earth's karma.

Do you remember that passage where Master Samael related where we came into contact with some being from another galaxy and he was asked basically why the Earth was not getting better especially when a very positive influence was being placed near it. Then Master Samael all of a sudden said, in a way that surprised him: "It is the Karma of the Gods.".

I would like to write more about this, but it certainly seems that the problem of the Kundabuffer organ had to happen and the reason why it had to happen was karma. It is said by Gurdjieff that it was a mistake or a miscalculation etc. But if the same thing happened on other planets then it was not a miscalculation. There is something else behind it and it has to be karma, and this karma has to have its origin in the past.

12.) Removal of the Kundabuffer Organ (too late)

The Kundabuffer organ was removed from humanity, Gurdjieff tells us under the direction of the sacred individual Arch Chemist Physicist Loosios.

When the Kundabuffer organ was removed it had already achieved its purpose and more. The negative effects of the Kundabuffer organ among humanity were already prevalent.

When human beings had the Kundabuffer organ in their constitution the functioning of their psyche was affected. The affected way of the functioning of their psyche in turn produced certain other effects or consequences which later came to be the origin of the "I".

So it was not the Kundabuffer organ directly that gave rise to the origin of the "I" but it was the way that it affected the psyche of humanity, and these effects became the seeds for the origin of the "I".

This is a classic lesson in life and esotericism, when something goes for too long or passes a certain limit what was previously good becomes something bad.The Kundabuffer organ was no exception.

13.) Consequences of having had the Kundabuffer are the "I's"

An interesting detail about the Kundabuffer organ is it's location. It Gurdjieff said grew from the bottom of the coccyx, which is where the instinctive centre is located as well as the dwelling of the sacred fire.

Master Samael confirms that it was actually a physical organ.

The Kundabuffer being an extension of the instinctive centre tells us something interesting that the Kundabuffer was actually instinctively trying to connect the Lemurian humanity more to the Earth because the kundabuffer being like a tail, actually kept the Lemurian human being in physical touch with the Earth.

The Kundabuffer also being where the essential centre of the senses is, i.e. in the instinctive centre, the senses were made more dominant in the Lemurian than the consciousness. This was the aim or one of the reasons for the Kundabuffer, which was to make the Lemurian humanity more physical, more in contact with the physical and the physical senses.

We also know that the sacred fire dwells in the base of the spine, and the tail or the Kundabuffer organ is the negative projection or the downward projection of the sacred fire that we have in the coccyx. That is why it increased fascination in those Lemurians because it is the opposite of the Kundalini which breaks hypnosis.

Master Samael says somewhere that if there was no fornication there would not have been the Kundabuffer organ. Meaning that the loss of the sexual energy by those Lemurians caused the Kundabuffer to develop, and of course then, the Kundabuffer in an individual would certainly develop to be the negative projection of the sacred fire.

14.) Remanent of the Kundabuffer in the Coccyx

Within the body of human beings of the current day, there exists the remanent of the kundabuffer organ. It is as Master Samael says, a small bony appendage located on the very bottom of the coccyx. It is like a minuscule tail.

Even though it is a remanent, it is still very powerful. Master Samael says that it has the power to create new psychological "I's" within our psyche and it still works within us to maintain fantasy as the main functionalism within our psyche.

15.) Kundabuffer as Negative Sexual Fire

We can define the Kundabuffer organ as many different things, but one thing that Master Samael says that it is, is negative sexual fire. It is in other words the opposite of the Kundalini, which is ascending and liberating sexual fire.

16.) Properties of the Kundabuffer

The Kundabuffer actually had and its remnant of the current day also actually has several properties.

One being fantasy, one being the supplier of the hypnotic force which becomes individualised into each ego as the hypnotic grip that each ego has, the tendency for war, the tendency to reproduce, to the liking of fornication, attachment to the senses, materialistic ways of thinking, the creation of new egos, beliefs, concepts, self-deceit, to name a few.

17.) Kundalini and the Kundabuffer

Master Samael says that the word 'Kundalini' is a compound word coming from an Atlantean language essentially meaning 'the end of the Kundabuffer'. He says that 'Kunda' is a reference to the Kundabuffer organ and 'lini' means 'end of'.

Master Samael says that the Kundalini is the opposite of the Kundabuffer and when the Kundalini awakens it begins to dissolve the hypnotic powers present in our psyche. The kundalini actually begins to dissolve the general hypnosis and the hypnosis that our egos have.

18.) Avatars Over the Centuries

Over the many millennia and centuries avatars have descended to the Earth to help humanity rid itself of the consequences of the kundabuffer organ. Buddha, Gurdjieff says was one such avatar. Jesus was also another one. Master Samael is certainly another one. In fact any teacher or messenger which teaches the three factors, especially the first two is one which is helping humanity directly to remove the consequences of the Kundabuffer organ.

Gurdjieff said that Buddha used mostly the intellect and objective reason to counteract the consequences of the kundabuffer organ. Such a consequence is fantasy and the introduction of objective reason is something that works directly against this.

19.) Three Factors as the Remedy

The three factors are the complete remedy for the question of the Kundabuffer organ and the karma that caused it. That is why all the real avatars in history have taught human beings the three factors and have worked to inspire human beings to take up the work of the three factors.

20.) Kundabuffer on Hercolobus

Given the material that we have present about this subject it is very logical to think that the Kundabuffer organ was only given to humanity on the Earth. However, Master Samael says that this is not the case. He says that the Kundabuffer organ was given to the humanities of several other planets, one being Hercolobus.

Master Samuel says that because of the kundabuffer, the humanity on Hercolobus are in a very degenerative state similar to our humanity.
