Gnostic Wisdom

Let's work with definition. It is a powerful factor. It does not matter how many egos we have. If we are defined to dissolve them there is no problem and there won't be any problems. We define ourselves all the time, everyday. Taking definition results in action. We define to concentrate, we define to do, we define to practice, we define to die in ourselves, we define for the path, we define for the Being, we define to accept reality... When we define ourselves, the battles between 'yes' and 'no' stop. Definition brings peace and focus which equals forward motion. End (4862).

We don't do because we think too much. We stop doing because we think. "Don't think just do." is a famous quote. We don't practice either because we think. "Don't think just practice." has to become a famous quote recited to ourselves everyday. Basically in Gnostic terms we let our intellect run too much past the limit where our motor should take over. We have to reverse that and just get into the task with the motor centre. End (4864).

Giving and receiving form the two poles upon which we must find balance. To give and to receive are two things we need to learn. We are typically unbalanced, we give too much or we receive too much.  Giving and receiving follow a cycle. We receive and we give or we give and we receive. We receive light and we give the received light to others. Ego infiltrates everything. We need to purify our giving and receiving. When it is an "I" that receives  or gives we are getting it wrong and that can bring effects that are not quite those that were expected. When we give for example, we may not be really giving but taking control through giving. When we want to receive it could be because we don't want to give it to ourselves when it is proper that we should. End (4863).

Factors that we introduce into our own causal dimension are always by nature transformative. Transformative for better or worse. Whatever is a cause produces effects and new effects are what transform our life. Any causal factor changes something from negative to positive. That is why the Intimate Christ must be seated in our causal dimension. Because from there and only from there can He transform us and author a new future inside and outside of ourselves. Truly by working with new causes and modifying existing causes do we really change ourselves. Transmutation is causal because it changes us and our life. So when we transmute we are also touching our causal dimension. End (4860).

We may do something tedious fairly happily all by ourselves and then we may be asked to do the same thing by someone else and we get upset and protest. In the end it is the same task but why the protesting? Pride is the answer.  Something in our psychology thinks that we can't be told what to do, or we are being taken advantage of or we should not be told what to do because we are an adult and we are not anyone's subordinate or mother or father or anyone else etc. etc. We think pride is right. But really is it? Is it really right when it is the same task and it has to be done and the only difference is being told or asked? No one is going to take advantage of us - that only happens if we allow it, so what is pride fearing or thinking is wrong? Is it true that we are beyond being told what to do? Relating to others is a science and an art.  To relate really well to others in our life we need to know others and we need to know how to relate to them. To know them is the science and the practice of how to relate is the art based on the science.  The more we know them and the better we know how to relate to them the better overall the relating will go. The more difficult the person is the more disciplined we must be with our science and art. After all everything is a discipline. Every profession has its disciplinary aspect. Answering emails on time, organizing files, quoting on time, reporting, etc. etc. It is a worth while science because to know the other we have to know ourselves.  To not know the science and art of others is to be like a 'bull in a chine shop' or to use a 'spoon to cut a steak'. What kind of karma do we get if we abandon our responsibilities whether they be human or spiritual? A little hard to say exactly right? All that I can think of to write in this moment is that if we abandon something we are later abandoned.  If we abandon the light, then the light one day will abandon us, or either it will be more difficult than it should be to find the light that we so need. The teachings say that we get karma for the good that we don't do... We get as much karma for not doing the good, as we do doing harm to others etc. Master Samael taught this and it was also known it seems before him by Voltaire in France and I would say much before him also, as it is a universal hidden truth. If we have a spiritual responsibility to help the great cause through maintaining and adding to a point of light in the planet (gnostic centre) and we actually have the ability to do so and we don't, then we are not doing the good that we can do. We know that we need sacrifice to move ahead and to produce octaves in quality. Sacrifice is a tremendous engine for our work and with everything and anything in the cosmos. So what do we sacrifice when we want to work with sacrifice to progress.  Remember sacrifice is the conscious choice of one good superior to another. We can sacrifice: our time and energy, our sleep, our meals, our money, our interests, our comforts, our egos, our way of thinking, our desires, our 'me-time' etc.  End (4853).

Time Karma is in time and in life. To escape time and life means no more recurrences and no more of so many other things. The future is already real. The three instances of time are one. We will be in the future as we are now. Time is one unit, it is not fractioned. Our realization is already happening. We are in Gnosis because our realisation is in motion. The Inner Being knows already that it will be reached and so It has us in Gnosis.  The reason why we pay karma now from the past, is because we are the same perosn as back then. The fourth state of consciousness is all about unity. Especially about of time. Personality We need to escape from the personality. If we are not working to escape our personality we are not doing anything in the work. The personality is the foundation of the 'myself'. The egos need the personality to manifest. It is the amalgamation of all of our "I's". It is the basket in which the eggs (the I's) are held. The personality is about...

Monastery life from the outside seems hard, but after a while it is said, it becomes easy. An established routine, the body conditioned to the routine, one environment only to deal with and everything taken care of.  The Gnostic working in the three factors has the hardest life, working spiritually while working physically, and dealing with the matters present in several different environments. There is no doubt, there is substantial sacrifice in the Gnostic and in the monk. Besides the life of the Gnostic being more difficult, the life of the Gnositc allows for every part of his or her life to be touched so as to self-discover and dissolve any and all conditionings.  Plus there are endless opportunities available for sacrifice in the life of a Gnostic, in a monastery the opportunities for sacrifice are limited by the nature of monastic life. All that a monk can do, a Gnostic can also do, however, a monk can not do all that a Gnostic in the three factors can do. End (4854).

From one gnostic to another, what activity in a Gnostic centre has helped you the most?  Was it a lecture, a practice, a retreat, a conversation with another Gnostic student, a book study, a certain incident in the centre, a one to one talk with the instructor...?  This is good to know so as to be able to make the activities in a Gnostic centre more effective for the  students. When we make a 'had enough' claim and we don't do anything about it, then we know it was not real and an "I" was saying "I've had enough". Then if we are still in the middle of those 'had enough" circumstances, then we know that we have not really had enough, and what it is all about, is us deciding to dissolve that "I" that says I've had enough.  The teachings say that when we decide to dissolve and "I" and start to do it, circumstances change. But as long as we don't accept the remote possibility of working on ourselves the circumstances persist and persist. Makes sense doesn't it?  End (4856).

Gnosis calls us to surpass ourselves. Not to stay in our concepts and ideas of what is personally right or wrong. We only really die when we surpass ourselves. That is when we transcend the personal good and evil, the wrong and right inside of ourselves. The Being in us who is waiting there above good and evil, wrong and right contains within itself the limit and the real impersonal line of good and bad, wrong and right. Courageous are those that can make this jump. This is the revolution that breaks all the cycles. Even those whom are good and are right at some point fall into the mechanical cycles of nature... We can't understand our fellow Gnostics being in the bottles of personal good and bad and personal right and wrong. When we jump above we can... Post Revised: 12/02/2024 I think the best start to this work of cultivating love as a value is to start by using love to work on the heavily negative egos that affect others. To use love to work on anger. To use love to work on pride and resentment. To use love to dissolve the hurt and angry self-love and self-importance etc. To use love for our Inner Being to climb out of the hole of self-compassion. I say respectfully if we use love this way we are on the right track. Love is very tricky. We can not define it. as soon as we do we fall into error. There are so many ways to love, however we only see and accept one way based on our ideas and concepts we have of love. Because of these concepts and ideas of love we can't see love. The mind as Master Samael says kills love.  We can use love to come out of our concepts. Background This is a very important dimension for us. Our internal causal dimension is the more important. To change our life, to change our future, to change our destiny we have to work within our own causal world, and we certainly can work with it. We all have worked with it at some point in the past. Perhaps no consistently, but at some point we have. When we change a part of our life it is because we managed to shift or move something in our own causal world. Nothing can unfold without a cause. That is, there are no effects without a cause. The causal world embodies in living reality the Law of Cause and Effect. The causal world inside and outside is a great network, where causes generate effects and effects become causes and so many things all link together by the great chain of effects becoming causes. In the Gnostic sense the right angle for our consciousness to be looking is inwards and upwards - towards our Real Inner Being. To be aware and fully looking into life, from the Gnostic point of view is not the right angle. Looking inwardly and upwards towards our Inner Real Being renews us, heals us, orients us and connects us deeper to our wholeness - our spiritual side, which is more powerful, expansive and more knowing that our human side. In other words we can benefit more in the whole sense of the word from looking inwards and upwards with our consciousness. It's not right to forget ourselves, to have our attention with awareness looking outside all the time, its even worse to not be aware of our attention and be looking outside 100% of the time.  Using our consciousness this way and not using causes us to fall away from our Inner Being and become weak and more solid in life which is essentially empty. Hence we become empty... When we are empty we are just personality talking...

Let's try to see ourselves as a consciousness. When we see ourselves as a person we feel hurt and offended very often and there is always that sentiment of 'poor us', 'poor person', 'cute', 'ugly' etc. etc. When we see ourselves as a person we are mostly concerned with doing things, eating, looking good, buying things etc. etc. In other words matter, which does not help us in our efforts towards developing spiritually, and it also throws into experiencing suffering. When we see ourselves as a consciousness we can only be worried about if our consciousness is seeing correctly, acting correctly, upholding its principles, generating the right thinking, feeling and acting etc.  This concern throws towards spiritual development and away from pain and suffering. Below are some clarifying notes about what happens to the essence that is destined to involute after the death of the physical body.  We know the teachings of Master Samael regarding involution. Specifically that each essence is given an archetypical number of 108 lives as a human being before that essence is sent into the process of involution. Where that essence will lose the human condition and will take up the condition of animal, then plant then mineral. Where it will evolve through the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms to return to the state of a human being. When the last physical existence arrives, as dictated by the Divine Law, and the physical body of the essence dies this is some of the things that take place. We can't be dragged along in the path. We have to want it for oursleves. We can't just go along with it for our wife or husband. We can't be in it because our husband or wife is in it. We can't be waiting for circumstances to get better to want the path. We will alwyas be waiting if we are that way inclined. If we are not self-driven for our path or our awakening we will not succeed and we will not help the person or people near to us to succeed.  Because we will always never quite line to be able to fully give adn co-operate with the path and the path of others. Half or part measures don't cut it on the path. Full measures are the only ones that do. End (4845).

To have an intiamte esoteric life we need to have and foster an esoteric identity. The identity is what we forget, and when we forget our identity we lose our esoteric life.  When we fell we forgot our identity.  Even in life when we forget that we are a parent, a teacher, a doctor, a priest, a lawyer, a mayor etc. we fall and we do things that are not at all becoming of a parent, a teacher, a doctor, a priest etc.  To have an esoteric life we need esoteric goals and a line of achievements and goals. We need to be achieving something. We need to be in a line of development. Our identity as a soul is one thing and our identity on the path is something else.  When we have an esoteric identity we are identified internally by the masters of the internal worlds. That's what everyone does in relation to the Law held in place by the government, and enforced by the police and other government departments, is to make assumptions where it is alright or will be alright. The usual thing that happens when we make an assumption like this, is that we end up breaking the law and are lumped with a fine. When it comes to making assumptions about the Law, it is highly likely that our assumptions will not work out. We have to know the Law, both physical and Divine. We are still charged by the Law even if we didn't know what we did was an infringement of the Law. We don't know the Law and so we assume. Until we know the Law we shouldn't assume. This happens to us because we are good inside and so many things of human law are not in the cosmic moral law. Also so many things that are wrong by the moral cosmic law are not wrong by the Earthly country human laws. Knowing remedies assuming. End (4843).

Our days for a while can be become very hurried with lots to do. Difficult times right. What we can't allow ourselves to do is to get swept up in the hurry and lose ourselves. Everything we do has to become a practice of meditation - that is relax, concentrate and remember one's Being and occupy fully our presence in our body and move comfortably in our own skin. We have to do the opposite of the ego. There are egos that like to rush and lose ourselves in it all and run around like chickens with no head. If we slow down and do a moving meditation on what we are doing and living through we get things right in quicker time and are more efficient and things work out.  End (4842).

General This is just an example that may give some help in seeing and understanding the three levels of the world.  The three levels are inferior, middle or physical and superior. in other words lower, middle and upper. We live in the middle or physical world which is visible and tangible to us. We also live in constant contact with the invisible worlds which are the inferior and superior dimensions. We don't see the invisible dimensions but we can and they are there to see and from them emanate the occult influences that govern so much of what happens in this world. The fight between the upper and the lower always happens and is most intense in the middle. Which in the outside world is planet Earth and humanity, and in the inside world it is us and within us. Example Take a $100 bill. If we look at it physically we see only a piece of paper. That in nature without any other human being around it is as good as a fallen leaf from a  tree. How do we see the self-realization now days? With the times of tranquility running shorter and with the increasing difficulty of life amidst looming global conflict. Some may see it as the time for complete works as having gone. By complete works, it is meant  completing the three mountains. If that be true, then the best we can do is to stay as we are working in three factors, two factors or one factor - focusing on the awakening of the consciousness and the death of the pluralised "I". It has been said that an awakened or awakening essence can not be sent into involution.  End (4826).

Mental violence is a serious thing. It seems like nothing but the more we become aware of it and the more we experience it from pothers we see that it is a serious thing. We may not be violent physically but we can be violent in word and thought. To be violent in thought is not only about imagining violent fight scenes with guns and swords all the time. It has a lot to do with our interactions with the thoughts and thinking of others.  Very true quote, we get violent when we don't know how or lack the capacity to cope with a situation and its impressions. There is physical, verbal and mental violence. Even teachers can be mentally violent towards their students... Mental violence with others is when we attack, or cut off the thoughts and ideas of others.  When we don't listen and we don't understand their points, when we don't explain when we don't give others the right to express their thoughts and ideas then we are mentally violent. The ideal to awaken would be to have someone watching us and reminding us all the time - practically every moment not to get identified and stop dreaming. Well that can happen but not directly.  It can be that the circumstances of one's life are such that, as soon as one stops paying attention or gets identified difficulties arises followed later by some pain and suffering. That is a help in our life and its obviously best to co-operate and not get identified, stop dreaming and take awareness of our attention. End (4837).

We, I included, tend to fight and protest about our circumstances... We, I included, tend not to accept fully our circumstances.  'Shoulding all over ourselves' about how things 'should' be better... Thinking esoterically m.m.m says, the circumstances that we have are the best ones for us and our Inner Being to realise ourselves. Our circumstances are the best combination of favourable cosmic and human factors as well karmic considerations which actually are the unique solution to the complicated equation of our spiritual realization. The bottom line is to deeply accept our circumstances for us to give the correct answer to them, which is the correct value that we can only give by working hard on ourselves End (4836).

Here are some notes about prayer. Notes ⧊ ⧊ Master Samael says that nature obeys the stronger force. When we pray and we don't unify ourselves we are not the stronger force. ⧊ Master Samael taught that what happens when we pray not being in the third state of consciousness, is that we ask for something that we have not consulted all the other egos for. As they have not been consulted and are are not interested in what we are asking for they rebel and ask for the opposite of what we are asking for. Their rebellion becomes the stronger that nature responds to. ⧊ The above reason is why many times we get the opposite of what we are asking for. Therefore it is very important to know how to pray. ⧊ The way to pray Master Samael taught is to first become aware of ourselves, entering the third state of consciousness and align the three brains with the prayer using the following formula. * Third state of consciousness is a state of self-observation and self-awareness (self-remembering). ⧊ ...

After each Gnostic lecture an ambience is created among the presenter and the audience and this ambience or aura remains for sometime in the room.  This ambience helps the audience to understand the knowledge that is being presented. As soon as that ambience is disturbed it is a little harder to connect to the points.  It is a lot like dreams. Where the suggestion is to not move when we wake up because moving dissipates our connection to the dreams which makes the dream more difficult to remember. This ambience can be disturbed in many ways. Hackling, challenging, contradicting or arguing with what has been said dissipates very quickly this ambience. With this ambience dissipated, the audience then loses some connection to the points presented in the talk. Consequently the points that were presented do not remain as vividly as they could in the audience. Retreats are really about interchanging values. We receive and give through the many events in a retreat.  We all bring our values to the retreat and those values visibly and invisibly form a net of connections through which each participant interchanges values.  When we speak and act we visibly interchange values and when we meditate, pray and listen we invisibly interchange values. Ideally the retreat aims at giving spiritual values which the attendees receive and the attendees reciprocate  by feeding back their understanding and later on in time or perhaps immediately the application of these values. This goal of this post is to bring to light a truth that by being aware of it we can enhance the experience of the retreat for ourselves and others. When we stay the same we end up accumulating... When we make changes and shifts of perception within ourselves we let go... The key to shed layers of conditioning is to make inner shifts and changes.  It is just like moving house. The longer we stay in a house the more we accumulate. When we move house we realize that the many things we have accumulated need to be, and also can be let go of, and passed on.  It's just the same within us. The more we change, the more within us we will naturally let go of. If there's something that we want to let go of but can't. All we have to do is change inwardly (die psychologically) and we will naturally be able to let go of it. End (4832).
