Attention: Our Living View Finder - (5698)

Introduction

Here are some practical notes on attention.

Notes:

To starting working with our attention we need a good concept of what it is.

With exact concept we can connect to our attention a lot easier.

Imagine our attentiont to be a living view finder.

What we do with attention is to locate it or place it on something. That something could even be nothing. That someting could also be the consciousness doing the placing of attention...

A view finder is placed over a map for example, and ambient light or light from a light source within the view finder, is collected and directed by the view finder onto a specific area of the map. The view finder lights up that specific area of the map.

There is another aspect of working with attention, and that is, will power is required to keep the view finder of our attention placed on what we are looking at or reflecting on.

Attention is the precursor of concentration. We could never have concentration without attention.

To see attention as a living view finder, is seeing only a small part of it what it really is.

Attention is actually a flow of life and energy as well as will and consciosuness that brings more will and consciousness into activity.

Attenton is a vehicle of presence. It allows our consciosuness and therefore our Inner Being to be present in any given moment and situation.

Where our attention is our consciousness follows.

We don't usually experience life. We only experience the life that we put our attention onto.

Our attention brings our consciousness and our consciousness illuminates what our attention is placed on.

There are levels of attention.

1.) Placing Attention: When we start by placing our attention on an object.

2.) Intermittent Attention: Attention that falls off and on the object.

3.) Constant Attention: Alertness is experienced, attention is more on than off the object.

4.) Fixed Attention: Attention is settled on the object. We can hold our attention with ease.

5.) Lucid Attention: Quiet mind and aone is fully aware of attention being placed on the object.

6.) Mind Pacified: The mind has deeply relaxed and one is very lucid of attention.

7.) Intense Attention: Alertness amplifies and single-pointed concentration appears.

8.) Absorption: Consciosuness appears above the totally quiet mind.

End (5698).
