When we find working on a defect difficult we can try calling upon the many other qualities of the essence that we have. Even if they are well developed or not - calling upon them can and certainly will help.
You never know, because in the process you may find one quality that is the one that you need to tip the scales in your favour, and make winning easier.
For example, a person is working on their anger, then invoking the qualities of respect, honour, dignity, serenity, intelligence, foresight, patience, love etc. all help us in the battle.
To be relying on one quality may not be so effective, especially when it is not really the key antidotal quality.
