From One Life to the Next Oh God! What happened after we fell in the past? We walked, and walked and walked from one life to the next... Always looking for something… Looking for precisely that which we had lost, but alas, we were not even able to remember what it was that we had lost… Such is the cup of the forgetfulness... Our immortal and Divine inner Being, was what we had left behind for some reason… So we walked and walked, travelled and travelled, drifted and drifted as a kind of consolation hoping that our travelling would take us to encounter that which we had lost. Perhaps some new and kind fortune would befall us and miraculously bestowing upon us what we had lost. Perhaps we hoped to encounter a mysterious old sage, a temple, a mysterious cave, the magic of the mountains, oceans and forests…  But karma would not have it that way… And so even now we can catch ourselves walking; feeling that solitude of 'being without' – this is a re...

That is the key behind the sense of awe and the state of alert novelty – passive personality or separation of the personality. We may be walking from one room to another at our place of work and everything seems so ordinary, matter of fact, routine, dull and grey scale. Though, when we make a conscious effort to separate our personality or make it passive, a notable shift occurs. As the consciousness appears everything becomes surreal, new, amazing, awe inspiring, wondrous etc. The personality is a layer that sits over our consciousness and dulls it. To the personality all is ordinary, human and grey scale. The sense of the cosmic and universal is very far from the perceptions available through the terrestrial personality that we have. A Way Neti Neti is a Sanskrit term meaning “Not this” “Not This”. With the remembering of the Being we need to find ourselves in our Being. At the very least our identity in the Being. That is to really be and feel ourselves as an essence that belongs to a Divinity. To do this, a kind of internal undressing exercise proves useful. To tell ourselves: “I am not my personality – I am not my job, my nationality, my social class, any role that I have…” “I am not my body.” “I am not my thoughts nor am I my mind.” “Nor am I the will that I can drive.” “I am that which listens and sees the thoughts and that which with intelligence directs the will.” “I am an Essence!” Conclusion Trying this can be a useful alternative when our usual method or way of entering the state of remembering the Being does not work too well or appears mechanical. So what would be the ray of the Monad who had a vehicle many many years ago in ancient Greece, that it is written had the name of Socrates? Would that Monad's ray be Art, Law, Wisdom, etc.? What would then be the ray of the Monad of the disciple of Socrates named Plato, who died 11 years after Socrates in ancient Greece? The same or a different one? Perhaps a different one... perhaps one of the three listed above. Those two dudes in the centre are Socrates on the left and Plato on the right. Anyway ending all the intrigue, if one reads Plato and reads what it is said that Socrates said, and one combines that with one's knowledge of the the rays taught to us in Gnosis, one can see fairly clearly the different rays of the Monads of these two historical personages. Ego as Cause Master Samael says that the reason why we have many existences or successive existences (i.e. many physical bodies) is because of the ego. The egos that we have precipitate a new existence and so on and so on, until the ego is eliminated. However, each existence serves as a learning experience for our Monad. Each existence offers our Monad the chance to learn from a different set of circumstances unfolding in different areas of life. Only really the learning of our Monad is complete when we actually have moved through or experienced all of the diverse areas of life. Imagine the Co-Penetration of the Consciousness Imagine as a missionary you can focus on any one of your students and then overlap your consciousness with them and perceive for a second through the feeling aspect of the consciousness what it is that they are strong and weak in, in relation to life and their spiritual work, and what they may need psychologically and esoterically. It is good to be grateful to the students that we have. It is even our duty to help really and truly in making progress towards their Being. Sometimes in order to do this well we need to know what it is that they really need. Thanks to the students that we have, we can learn, we can give and we can serve our Common Cosmic Father. To talk, to get to know them and to use our consciousness to perceive what may help is a good way to do this. End (2447).

This could be the reason why the good fortune and peaceful inner states that we are expecting and hoping for do not eventuate. At some level we are still divided and have not given over or surrendered ourselves to our inner Being. I affirm, not surrendering over to something external – to someone or to something but to the higher part of ourselves . We can not progress in the dissolution of some egos until a certain decision is made to go by the ways of the inner Being within us. Until we decide to side by the essence and its ways of doing things we can not really advance steadily in the dissolution of an ego. Until we don’t decide for the ways of the Being we go back and forward in the strengthening and weakening of an ego, and no real progress is made in dissolving the ego. Dissolving the ego is a process of educating the essence in the ways of the Being. End (2446).

Invest the Energy and Time Inwardly With the desire of ego we often solve the ego’s problems externally, and in doing so we invest so much time and effort. If we were to invest that much time, mental energy and ingenuity into our interior then a new and much better way would open up to us.  There is Another Way Which is to solve it inwardly. That is to invest our intelligence and energy in finding a way to undo the desire of the ego, which is the main element causing the problem needing to be solved. It is better to dissolve problems then solve them. We can dissolve problems by knowing and understanding and transmuting the desire. Desires are to be comprehended and transmuted. End (2445).

Before falling asleep at night grab your essence teddy bear (clear your mind) give your essence a big hug (prayer), feel that nice and cosy, warm and fuzzy trust (remembering the Being) and drift off to sleep asking your essence to protect you and to take you to places where you can learn (positive astral unfolding). Fumes that Rise In the situation where a missionary visits and gives a talk to the group members of another missionary certain fumes can rise to the head of the visiting missionary. If the visiting missionary believes these fumes which comes from his or her own subconscious an error could be produced. These fumes may say: “I am addressing more of what these people need.”, “I am doing a better job.” “The people seem really to like my talk and I can really help them.”, “I explain things better.”, “I understand the people better.” etc. etc. When these fumes are believed one then thinks the real missionary of that group should not be there or has less right to be there which is another fume, and the people wants one there instead. The Time on your Watch Reads Now! We may feel the impulse to express something of gratitude and love towards another, but we say to ourselves: “later” or we think that there is time still. Now is the reality and time is that which does not ever exist, we are always chasing it. We chase either the future and the past, and guess what? Both don’t exist. As long as we are in time we will always be chasing. Meaning if we don’t express now we won’t ever express if we are thinking that we will express our gratitude and love in time. The Fire There is the fire of life, the very special energy of life that brings forth life, and that is the spark of life. Master Samael Gives the Most Infallible Method The most infallible method is the method Master Samael gives us, which is if you have a body you know that you have it because you can use it. For example, if you have an astral body you know that you have one because you can project out of your physical body with it and move around the astral plane with it. Layer of Darkness The first quality of the ego's darkness is that it makes us to feel that the ego is something exclusively particular to ourselves. In that darkness that has the flavour of a special fascinating exclusivity is the feeling of superiority. Within that darkness we can even think that with the ego we are superior to others. Due to that quality of darkness we can even think that our ego is superior to the same ego in another person. Once Removed As soon as we hear about the ego in ourselves being the same or behaving, thinking and feeling the same as it is in others, that first layer of darkness can be removed. That is a relief and a 'kick yourself' moment. Because we realise that we were asleep in that darkness. It is the same relief that after having been sick for a while you see the doctor and he or she says what you is this and that, and it is relatively well know and treatable. Interactions with Others When we interact with others the best thing that we can do is to care for the values of our essence. Meaning to answer with the values of our essence.  If we change our perspective to be interested in our values and not interested in our image or the value of our ideas or our external personal dignity or in the way we are treated (real dignity is not how we are treated but in how we react to unfair treatment) we can do this, that is start to act from inside rather than from outside. We Always Get Something We are always interested in getting something, when we know that we are going to get something everything turns around in us. We react with the ego in interactions with others because we feel that we are going to get something or get something back. If we use our values we are going to get something and we are going to get more of our values, more of our essence, and more of what our Being is like.  End (2437 ).  

As Below So Above If we want to understand something esoteric or know a bit more about something esoteric the Hermetic axiom proves very helpful. If a mother makes so many sacrifices for her son or daughter here in the physical world and the love of a mother heals, nurtures, educates, remedies and transforms then we can be sure that our own Divine Mother is exactly like this and more. This is trust! This is faith! To know and feel secure and firm in our own Divine Mother that She can heal, remedy, transform and educate us is faith. End (2436).

Introduction My marvelous missionary was told a story once, back in the days when he was doing his missionary course or a short time afterwards, about how powerful an old lady praying can be. Story The story is meant to be real, set in Costa Rica I think. Where a mother and son lived out in the country in a semi-remote area. The mother’s son was rather tricky and attracted to evil and dabbled in spells and things of that sort, i.e. black magic. Then one day the boy wanted to take his dabbling to a much serious level and invoked one of the entities that his spells and dabbling was related to, with the purpose that this entity would take him away from his remote abode where he could experience another kind of life. One night the mother was praying and felt something strange, the demon or entity that her son had invoked was arrived to take here son away. The demon took the form of a dark, strong, aggressively powerful horse, that the son would mount and ride away on....

A Different View of the Ego We can see the ego in so many different ways. From seeing it as something totally demonic to something that we have to love, and many things in between. Trouble Spots We can see the ego as something that like pain points out where the trouble spots in our interior are. These trouble spots among many things are spots where we do not relate well to our inner Real Being. These trouble spots are areas of life and areas of relationship with life and our Real Being that we do not understand well and that we have not come to balance as yet. We have not produced for ourselves in that area the elasticity that is a product of the comprehension and balance processed by our own consciousness. Conclusion The first step to correcting something wrong is to know in full detail what the problem is. If we look in the direction of what is wrong in relation to the quality inside of ourselves that relates to that area of life we can slip stream our work. ...

Religious Context It is quite often seen in religious contexts, where a person sins (using the Christian terminology) and then to help repent for that sin and to pay penance for that sin, the same person inflicts harm upon his or her own flesh. An extreme example of this can be seen in the book (and also movie) “Angels and Demons” written by Dan Brown. Where Silas, a member of the Opus Dei, after committing the sin of murder severely mortified his own flesh. Reasons Why There are two main reasons behind this practice. One is to take the initiative to wash away the karma or debt caused by the action and the other is to leave a mark in the person’s memory and psychology such that this will prevent the person from repeating that error again. The last reason is an attempt at comprehension but as you may appreciate, it can fall short of full comprehension. So Good to Know The emotional centre - the crazy elephant does exactly that - overwhelm us from time to time! That is, produce such a high wave of intense emotion that we feel overwhelmed. So what is it to feel overwhelmed? Well we feel overwhelmed when we see that the degree of emotion is something off our normal scale of emotions, and it is something that we think that we don’t have the capacity to accommodate in our system. In other words we “think that we can’t” deal with the emotions or what we are faced with. After a lot of experience of being overwhelmed, I say “we think that we can’t” handle the emotions because when we are experiencing those emotions, we are actually handling them, we are actually coping with them, we are holding them within our system. A Feast We hear about feasts now and then in esotericism. Obviously, they are not feasts to do with eating and drinking as they are here in the physical world. They are to do with esoteric qualities. In esoteric feasts, esoteric values are liberated in abundance for all those attending the feast to nourish themselves with. These qualities are mainly wisdom, light, energies of various types, spiritual help (even blessings), inspiration, love and lucidity. Conclusion A retreat is really an esoteric feast. Sand Timer Neck A sand timer not only reminds us that our time is limited, it also shows us something else. If we observe the join between the two bulbs of a classic sand timer we will see that there is a very narrow neck. That neck is what controls how quickly the sand flows from the top chamber into the bottom chamber. If the neck is wide, a larger quantity of sand will fall through to the bottom chamber. If the neck is narrow, less sand will fall through to the bottom. The special thing is that the width of the neck is designed so that only two or three grains of sand can fall through at a time. No more! That is exactly us, we can only do so much and each thing we do takes the time that it takes for us to do it. We can not do more than what we can do, just like no more than two or three grains can fall through the join of the sand timer. Honour the Being The more that we start to honour the Being in us the more that we change the way we see ourselves. The more we honour the Being in ourselves the more we will honour others. The more special they will be for us. When we honour our inner Being we attract treatment that aligns with that. There is always a special something, called reciprocity at play, where we get what we put out. It just does not make sense to be despising ourselves and receiving reasonable treatment from others. If you have physical gold we expect that we will be able to buy many valuable things, won’t we? We don’t expect to buy with a kilogram of gold a packet of chips passed the use by date, do we? Conclusion – Interesting Things The very interesting thing about our psychology is that according to our self-image we end up provoking others to treat us in the same way that we see ourselves. Suffered too Much with the Rebellious Ego The ego mounts a steadfast rebellion holding up its position even in the face of so much personal suffering, for even such a long while, but then with our continued efforts to understand it, separate it and overcome it, comes the moment when finally it having been weakened by our efforts and all the suffering having slowly sunken into our consciousness, it bows down and we with gratitude and remorse surrender to the ways of the Being. Victory of Heart Over Mind That is what we must do! Especially with pride! Work and work until the love in the heart bends the ego and we surrender to the work and the ways of the Being in us, because we know it is not going to make us to suffer, because we know that it is right, becasue we know that we can progress on the path, that we can stop getting more karma, and finally because our will knows that it is right. Strange We Are We need to separate the ego from ourselves as something foreign from us. But we are so strange that we accept, believe in, integrate with and identify with the painful ego and we separate the work from ourselves thinking and feeling that it is something that we h ave to do, or that our instructor, wife, husband or Being is making us do! Wrong! That is all wrong! The ego is the painful foreigner and the work is ourselves, it is inside of ourselves. It is our inner natural way of trying to get free ! Our work is not in our missionary, in Master Samael or in anyone or in anything outside of ourselves. Tail Wind not a Head Wind When are struggling thinking that we have to do the work it is because we have separated the work from ourselves and we see the work as a ‘head wind’ instead of a ‘tail wind’. An Ailment - a Remedy It seems that many cities, towns and villages all have their special places provided by nature for people to heal and rejuvenate. It also seems that if there is ailment that is very prone to be developed in that area, city, town or village, mother nature has also provided a remedy. For example in Australia, hay fever and allergies are so easy to catch and many people say that while they were living abroad on other continents they didn’t suffer any kind of allergies, but in Australia – every spring time. Anecdote on the State of Alertness This comes from my marvelous missionary and it is so good at describing in a comical way what the psychological sense of alertness is. Here it goes: Two Questions "So there was a man working day and night on an oil rig in a very hot and remote place. After a while he really wanted to be out of that place and doing something different. Somehow he heard that if he were to make a deal with the Devil, the Devil could help get him out of there. So one day he cries out with all his might offering his soul to the Devil as long as the Devil gets him out of his miserable job and out of that hot and unforgiving place. Then lo and behold the Devil appears in all in His power and says to the man: "I will help you as long as you answer two questions immediately without a second of hesitation.". "Do you like eggs?" Introduction Without the spiritual work we move through our day and therefore most of our life in a kind of a malaise. We are not sure where we are going really, we hope we are moving towards something but it seems like we don’t have enough of a handle on things to really be going there - to really track our direction and pace. Time just slips away so quickly and it seems like our day was spent in a busy haze, where we emerge from the busy cloud an hour or two before we must retire at night to sleep. Remedy To live this way is not at all satisfying, it tires the soul. These feelings of malaise, i.e. of not having a handle on things whisper to us the remedy. The remedy is to get a handle on things, all by not letting the start of the day slip us by.
