Mental Associations - (3752)

An old draft I'm catching up on...

Mental associations are what we use to think most of the time.

There are several types and they are ingrained mechanisms of the mind.

They are worth studying because studying them will make us very much more aware of our mental processes.

Often it is due to mental associations that we find ourselves in negative thinking.

Often due to mental associations the "I's" that we have are triggered within us.

To overcome mechanical mental associations is to have a large degree of separation of the mind.

Often we believe in mechanical mental associations as being the real reasons for people's behaviour or for things happening. All the while they are the mind simply associating mechanically with no knowledge or perception of deep cause.

Mental associations combine beautifully with memory.

In our beginner's state of mind, mental associations tend to draw out mostly negative memories: painful,  lamentable and regretful memories.

End (3752).
