Emptiness in Zen is Consciousness - (3165)

The emptiness that is so often referred to in zen and buddhist circles is no more than what we know in Gnosis as consciousness or awareness.

Emptiness - because there is no "I" present, the mind is clear or empty. If there is no "I" - no person - no ego - there is just empty psychological space - however it is not really empty it is full of awareness.

Empty and full always go together. If something is empty it is also at the same time full of something else. An empty glass has no water but is full of air. A full glass is full of water but has no air in it.

End (3165).
