Finding the Essence Simple Method - (5777)

There are truly many different methods to help us realise our essence. As Gurdjieff said it is often easier to describe what the essence is not than describing what it is.  At the end of the day knowing what the essence boils down to an experience. We know what it is through our own experience of it.  We can have a good idea of what it is, without hte experience of it we don't fully know,  This simple method leads us into our own personal experience of our essence. We have to start by looking at ourselves becasue our essence is us and is inisde of us. We start by looking at our personality, seeing that we are more than our body, our culture, our upbringing, our job and the different roles that we play in life: father, mother, manager, citizen, commitee member, community support workjer etc. etc. Then we see that we are not our emotions, nor our thoughts as they come and go. Then what is left thta we can call ourselves? Our essence. Which is a space of awareness, witnessi...

Person in Front: Reality, Person Away: Concept - (5776)

When we have a person sitting right there in front of us we see their reality as much as we are capable of. When we don't have the same preson sitting right there in front of us we relate to them via the concept/s we have of them and their apparent behaviour. When relating to the person via concepts, the same concepts connect to some egos we have in our subconscious that then add ill-will (usually) into the thoughts we have about the person. The truer feeling and concept of a person is when we have them sitting right there in front of us. We are usually kinder to the person when they are sitting right there in front of us.  End (5776).

Dealing with Recurrent States Method - (5775)

Introduction We all at some time or another experience internal states that are unpleasant and repeat again and again. There is something definite to learn from these recurrences. They really hold a message for us, they really have something to tell us.  We can learn their lesson when we pay a lot of attention to them and above all we try really hard to find out why we are using those recurrent states for, and what pay back are they giving us. Being honest they are recurrent because we are using them for something, that is to get something, to avoid something... For some reason the subconscious part of ourselves sees them as useful. We all repeat something because we see it useful or giving us something, or either we are trapped and don't have any better alternative to get something done. Working Method Use the three brains sequence. Observe, analyse and understand with the intellect as much as we can. Stop there and then feel the opposite of that state or feel the opposite of the ...

Self-Sentimentalism is a Low-State - (5774)

Have you noticed that being sentimental or emotional about ourselves never take us to high places. It feels like it should but it just never seems to... It always tends to take us to low states and leave us lower than before. Being sentimental about ourselves leads to self-judgement.  The tendency to judge ourselves after being sentimental about ourselves is very strong. This is because the sentimentality towards ourselves makes us to experience inferior emotions which can only engender negative thought processes. Then magically 'good' and 'bad' about ourselves appears and we feel as though we are 'doing nothing' and 'wasting our life'. Such feelings come from being sentimental about ourselves and passing judgement about ourselves.  If say we are able to not take ourselves emotionally but intellectually we won't end up in a low state. Taking ourselves intellectually affords some separation where we can see truth and therefore know what and how to cha...

Fear to Anger - (5774)

From fear to anger there is a strong link. It is an unexpected link as they seem to be opposite in nature. Fear - withdrawing and anger is forward reaching.  Anger always protects other egos and comes to bring force to remove an impediment. Anger can therefore be used to remove that which is causing fear. Anger can bring force to defend ourselves protecting us from the outcomes we fear. When we are scared there is a link back to the past when we were perhaps children and we were scared. Often as children we did not know how to defend oursleves or deal with the aggression that the event presented. So now as adults with our standing as an adult in an event among other adults, anger is a possibility. A good remedy always is to sit and breathe through in alert presence what it is that we fear. Showing ourselves it is ok after all. Then anger will subside in relation to the fear and anger link. Remembering the event when we created fear is imperative as fromthere we can dissolve that me...

Virility Notes - (5773)

Master Samael spoke a lot about this quality. Today in society virility is often seen as something sexual... From what Master Samael writes, it is something of a much wider scope. It is actually a quality of 'Being'. We get the idea that to be virile is to be strong in some way. To get a grip on the quality of virility we need a bit more information. Is it to be courageous? Yes but it is not limited to courage, it is something more and something else. Is it to be just? Yes it is, it is the act of standing up to be just and holding firm to what is just. Is it to bring order? Yes it is. Can a woman be virile? Yes. It is a quality of Being. Is the Divine Being virile? Yes. How is it related to the sexual force? The sexual force is the force of life, it is the bringer or container of all the forces. Also, in sacred sexuality is equality and respect for both polarities. Neither polarity is above or below the other and both are equally as important, this is the true order of things. ...

Reality Loops with Playfullness - (5772)

Most egos are based on a strong belief which at its strongest point is based on one's experience of reality. Then these beliefs become what we can call reality loops. Where the belief system of an ego keeps being validated by one's exprience of reality. Playfullness is a way to overcome these reality loops. Meaning to play with the reality perceived and play with what is beyond and outside that reality to see how real it really is. To play with perceived limitations is something real, it is like to test and to see. It's not childish or anything like that. It is a way to overcome these conditions where we are stuck in a reality loop. It's a happy way of being daring.  End (5772).

Desire without Concentration Leads to Identification - (5771)

A missionary in a Koradi radio talk mentioned this and it is very interesting.  So true. When we experience a desire and we are not concentrated, that is we are not watching our attention we end up identified . With concentration present we see where the desire is coming from, see what it wants and transform it redirecting its force into a constructive end or simply letting it go allowing it to dissipate. We can then comprehend and not react leading us to become identified and then act on the desire. With comprehension we have then some consciousness to ask for the elimination of the "I" that handles that desire ( conditioned will ). End (5771).

Two Points to Work on in Relation to the Mind: Distraction and Reaction - (5770)

This is a very interesting point that a wonderful missionary shared on radio koradi. Distraction and Reaction are two things our minds are always doing. These two things keep our mind talking a lot and give our egos lots of opportunities to express. These are the two things that if we take control over them, will help us to concentrate better.  Instead of reaction we can use comprehension . Make the effort to comprehend before reacting. Distraction can be remedied with the ethics of concentration which is the act of watching our attention and bringing it back to the one thing in front of us. To apply these two remedies we first need alertness . End (5770).

Charity Notes - (5768)

It's not really right to deny people food who don't have food and drink. Nor is it right to deny people money who do not have money.   The mental objection: "get a job" does not help them right now in their moment of need. Maybe in the future or the coming days if they are lucky enough to find a job that actually pays. But to help them right now out of their current difficulty to think or say that is of no help. That is precisely where charity begins... Where we don't object... Mental objections that are totally inpractical and theoretical in nature stop us from being charitable. This is the quality of charity. In poor countries, any person can exercise the quality of charity so often and in so many ways.  In some countries like Australia it is more of a choice to be homeless and poor because the country gives so much support to not be in that situation. However in some countries there is really zero support from the government and the only support is from charity...

Death and Values are a One Way Street - (5769)

To die deeply in ourselves we come to the conclusion that it is a one way street effort. We have to die so as to really die. Not to die for someone to be kinder or for something to change or for something to be given to us in return. An unconditional death for ourselves is the one that really works. The same with the qualities of our essence. To express them always as they are a part of our Being's nature. Not to express only when others return them. What is a part of our nature is always shown naturally. It is not given and withdrawn, it is given naturally.  End (5769).

The Best Sense of Security is 'No Fear' - (5767)

We buy so many external things, including accumulting money for the sense of security or the senssation of safety, protection, peace of mind and a good night's rest. Better than that is 'no fear'. Which is something internal... End (5767).

Curiosity for Self-Knowledge - (5766)

There is a curiosity that is helpful to know ourselves and it works when we want to understand why we think and feel a certain way, and we don't straight away find it. This curiosity makes us to want to know and so we keep trying until we find out. There is also the curiosity of the "I" that is lile this as well but it is concerned about wanting to find out things others know but we don't yet know. Often that knowledge is not really helpful to making our life better and can even bring to us unnecessary difficulties, in th eprocess of getting it or once we have it.    End (5766).

Notes Related to Need and Greed - (5765)

Gnosis does not say to not buy this or that. All that it says is to truly know why we want that something. To know why does not mean to have or not to have, to buy or not buy. Gnosis teaches that behind having or buying something there are always psychological reasons that too often go undetected. When we 'know why' things often change or they may not, but the point is, we are conscious and we then can act consciosuly, and what we do won't be wasted. What we buy in greed is usually wasted or not taken full advntage of... Greed also becomes silly, as it does not serve a need. For example, a person may only have need for two cars but wants ten. Then when asked what are the ten cars for and the person replies, one for work, one for shopping, one for camping, one for going out, one for Sunday and so on... To work for something and save over time for it is not greed, it is actually bliss. Having worked and saved for it means it was serving a need and was within our menas and bri...
