It's not really right to deny people food who don't have food and drink. Nor is it right to deny people money who do not have money.
The mental objection: "get a job" does not help them right now in their moment of need. Maybe in the future or the coming days if they are lucky enough to find a job that actually pays. But to help them right now out of their current difficulty to think or say that is of no help.
That is precisely where charity begins... Where we don't object...
Mental objections that are totally inpractical and theoretical in nature stop us from being charitable.
This is the quality of charity. In poor countries, any person can exercise the quality of charity so often and in so many ways.
In some countries like Australia it is more of a choice to be homeless and poor because the country gives so much support to not be in that situation. However in some countries there is really zero support from the government and the only support is from charity.
The interesting paradox applies, the poor countries make human beings rich in charity and the wealthy countries can make human beings poor in charity.
Just how a strong generation produces a weak generation because they wanted to save their children from the hardships they passed through. Then the weak generation make a new generation that is strong from compensating for the weakness of their parents.
