Memories of a Fall - (970)

Introduction

You know for some reason (mainly because we may need it) memories of how and why we fell spiritually in the past can come to us.

What is Important in such Memories?

Our Psychological State

What is more important than anything else in these memories is the psychological state that we had when we fell. If we can remember the psychological state we have some precious information.

This is more important than the esoteric degree that we had, the physical circumstances, the people involved, the country , the time, the culture, the body male or female etc. etc.

Why is this So?

Psychological States Cause a Fall and our Psychological States Repeat through our Lives

Why is this? Because, it was precisely our psychological state that caused us to fall or lose what we had of spirituality. And very critically, because it was a psychological state it is going to repeat itself. The country, people, time, body, circumstances etc. will all be different but what will be the same will be the psychological state.

To fall is a decision that we take and to know the process in our mind and heart that led us to take that decision is very interesting and so valuable for our own knowledge and for others as well.

A Real Example

Here is a real example, look at such a psychological state: “the value of what had been achieved spiritually seemed now to have little meaning or value. Boredom was felt intensely, stagnation was strongly present, a resentment, a kind of stale bitterness was savoured, a lack of interest in nearly everything moved through the centres of the human machine, it was like one’s motivation, yearning, will had all left or failed and the thought process began: “I have gotten this far and I can always get this back again”. Worldly pleasure then seemed not so empty and seemed to promise excitement, and someone sort of protection that would embrace and protect one from the pain and bitterness that one knew would come when decided to throw away spirituality and dive into pleasure.”

The Learning

We have to analyse such psychological states and see deep into them and to learn from them and dissolve them because they will repeat themselves in the future. A lot of our psychological states are not new they are repetitions of the past.

Stagnation is Dangerous – Avoid it – Work to Produce a Higher Octave and Flow Forward

Stagnation is very dangerous in our work. We in the work are exactly like water. Water to remain clean and fresh has to flow and move. So must we in the work. When water stands still it becomes stagnant, and when we do not move forward in the work we stagnate and we end up falling into mechanicity where we then get into trouble, we get bored, and start to look for the new but in the wrong direction, in the direction that comes most immediate, which is through the ego and that puts us in grave trouble just depending on what ego catches us. If it is lust we are in trouble, if it is alcohol we are in trouble, it is self-love we are in trouble, if it is greed we can be in trouble, generally we will always be in trouble but some egos are much worse than others. We can easily reverse some but some are not so easily reversed, or are either very costly to reverse.

Resentment is Deadly

We have to learn to forgive, more our own fellow Gnostics! We have to for ourselves, for our path and for our Being. Resentment is very negative it causes us to devalue the work, it produces envy and wants us to throw our work so to escape from resentment and win the pity of those who we resent.

You know everyone has difficulty in the work or had difficulty and has had to face their resentments. So do we and we should not feel less because of that. What matters is that we work and overcome.

The Being in us is the Most Precious Treasure we Have

We should never stop seeing our Being as a treasure. When we stop remembering that or feeling that, we are in trouble. Self-remembering is so so important! The work is a way to the treasure and so how we can devalue the work if we value our treasure – our very own Being? Very difficult - only if we are crazy.

“Gotten this Far, I can get it Back Anytime I want” – Yes and No!

We can get our spirituality back but when is the question. It is usually hundreds of years before we can. When we really throw our spirituality we lose control and we do not get it back when we want. We get it back when it is decided for us that we get it back and this may be hundreds of years in the future.

This is because we fell asleep and we forget the work, the path, the consciousness and the Being, and because we have to pay our karma for throwing something so valuable away! We threw our will away and karma then takes our will away from us until after we have suffered and have come to fully realise and appreciate its value.

You fall you lose control!!!

Pleasure does not Protect – it Shines Deceptively, Promises Falsely, Enslaves and Embitters

This is a good lesson, worldly pleasure shines promising fulfilment, purpose, comfort, happiness, protection, but in truth these pleasures are fleeting and empty and can not protect one from pain, ill heath, death, karma, ignorance, etc. They often cause all of these things in the end anyway.

One, after falling into pleasure becomes a slave to it and this greatly embitters the life of the one who has fallen into it. The demoralisation of having lost our will and fallen into pleasure causes countless other very self-destructive actions, this is all because one loses a great amount of value before one’s own eyes, that is one does not respect oneself anymore. This causes one to create so many other degenerated egos. Such as all the different variations or diversions of violence and lust.

End (970).

Attention with Mind, Attention with Essence - (5197)

These two attentions are different. Attention with the mind tires the brain. and reduces the flow of life into steps, where it is inevitable that the narration of the mind begins to take over. With the awareness of steps comes a certain tediousness and the feeling of the flow of life leaving us behind. With the attention of mind very little of what's behind events comes to us... Attention with the essence brings the power of presence, in other words brings a certain depth and continuity of flow  Attention with the essence doesn't tire or strain and opens doorways into perceiving what is behind events and the thoughts and feelings that appear within us. It allows us also to flow with the flow of life, which is a pleasant feeling. Conclusion, make the essence bring attention to outer and inner life. End (5197).

The Sacred Substance Askokin - (962)

Introduction In simple terms, the sacred Askokin substance is the result of the mercury and the sulphur. It is the transmuted energy that crystallises to form the internal bodies (astral, mental and causal). In other words, it is the transmutation of our sexual energies. The Abrustdonis’ and ‘Helkdonis that Gurdjieff mentions in the excerpt below, taken from “Belzeebub’s Tales to His Grandson” are none other than the elements of mercury and the sulphur so spoken about in Alchemy. Excerpt on the Sacred Substance Askokin “I first learned that the destiny of beings arising on this planet of yours is chiefly to elaborate—by means of the process of their existence—the vibrations required by Nature for the maintenance of those former parts of the planet now called Moon and Anulios, when, do you remember, I became worthy personally to converse for the second time with His Conformity the then still Angel, but now Archan...

Wisdom from the Movie “Kingdom of Heaven” - (2168)

Introduction There are some movies that leave you with some pieces of advice that at point or another in your life or in the lives of others prove useful. This movie: “Kingdom of Heaven” was terrible to watch (too many battle scenes and people dying) but offered some very useful messages. In this post, I have presented a few, that have come in handy at point or another. Just to give you a bit of context, the movie is about the crusades, where the French and English were trying to defend the “Holy City” – Jerusalem from Islamic occupation. The topic of religion and God is a constant theme in the movie. It is very violent though, matching it frankly, quite awful to watch. Your Soul is in Your Keeping Alone An interesting dialogue between the French appointed king of Jerusalem and French Knight, the protagonist of the movie. Note, the king wears that metal mask because he has leprosy. King Baldwin I...
