To Accept
To accept positions of power within an institution is at
some point to hand the hard end of the stick to your friends.
Contradictions
We may think that such a position will allow us the facility
to help more. But it always turns out that the-many rules, interests,
influences restrict that beautiful intention, so much so causing us to
contradict even our benevolent promises that we made to ourselves and others
before accepting that position. One learns the lesson", "You cannot
please everyone" more than ever, and ourselves is included in that
"everyone".
I don’t know if the sacrifice of some of our own ethics and
values is worth it, because we can’t even please ourselves in such a position.
