I think that a part of every one’s life are these moments that are called: ‘a brush with death'.
I believe that we all need them and they are present in our life for a reason and that they are always direct experiences with the reality of death, either coming through ourselves or through others.
They are really important moments.
They are moments to take advantage of. They are moments to revaluate the direction and appreciation of our life.
These moments happen externally and also internally.
During and after those moments the solidity and assuredness of life seems to crumble. We see what really matters…
We usually suffer a shock and realise that we need to change and focus more on what is real. We know in those moments that what is real and what we must use life for is “our psychological death”.
What survives death is our psychological death. Death is defeated with death. These moments reveal this truth to us.
When these moments pass the solidity and ‘everything is ok’ feeling of life returns. The enjoyment and taste of life returns. Sleep and appetite return...
Life as a process is the forming of the comforting solid illusion of life, while death is separation and crumbling to dissolve the illusion of life.
We can’t forget the shock we received in those moments about how our life is going. We must act on them.
