When we are in a negative state, and sometimes not in a negative state, we can experience very negative thoughts, that easily scare and shock us. We often think: "how can I be thinking that!", "what is going on, how did such negativity come to be insinde of me?".
What happens is that the thoughts pass and afterall they are just thoughts and we return to normal. What though is the worst thing about the whole experience of very negative thoughts, is not knowiung what to do with them and leaving what thought them unexamined.
If there are very negative thoughts, we can think immediately to what the opposite of them is, and straight away know within us that we have the power of the opposite within us. Those scary thoughts are the very opposite of the beauty we have within before there were the negative thoughts. Let's see an example.
For example, a very cruel, senseless and callous thought appears, the opposite is kindness, care, support, protection which is what we actually have in our essence, but has since become partly conditoned in the opposite, somehow and for some reason along the way.
As soon as we see that, we know where the negative thought comes from, and that it is the opposite of our innate qualities of our essence.
The thing to do next is to focus on the opposite to the negative thought and use the contrast to choose and shed more light within. One thing we often see when we do this is that the negative thought is telling us to be more of the opposite, which for eh example above was to be more kind, caring, supportive and protective.
