Role of the Consciousness with Sensations - (5860)

Experience of Sensations

Being an essence in a human body means to experience so many sensations. There are so many kinds and types of sensations that we can experience.

Eventhough there are so many kinds of sesnsations, these different kinds are all available to the human mind to add to, give meaning to, create worry from, play down and ignore, exaggerate, crave and so on and so on.

As there are many kinds of sensations there are just as many ways the human mind can take them.

Some are pleasant and some are unpleasant, and some people find pleasant what others don't, and so it goes...

Meaning Of

Most sensations mean something for the essence inside the body. The sensation of a full stomach means to stop eating. Some other sensations are indicators of what the body is doing and what is going to happen next ,or what needs to happen for the sake of the well being of the body.

There are those sensations above that are clearly biological and instinctual, that can be observed and obeyed or they can be observed and overridden, but not for too long.

Truths

What though is the truth amongst all of this? One truth is that sensations can be influenced by our mind. Another truth is that sensations can be turned into emotion by our mind.

The essential point of these truths resides in the discernment of the consciousness based on what is convienient in the given moment.

It is not in the nature of the consciousness, not having a physical body, to be enslaved by the body and its sensations. It is in the nature of the consciousness to be very aware of the body and relate to it in an edifying and dignifying way, but to be trapped and enslaved by it.

The consciousness has within it the power to discern and choose. We all this from our studies.

Another truth is that there are the sensations, and the sensations make us feel something, and then there is the meaning given to the sensation by our mind. This meaning is often exaggerated, and that exaggeration turns into something else, far from the extent of the sensation.

All the parts of the body are equal and their sensations are the same in the sense that they are indicators of that body part's functions.

This is very important to understand, There is not sensation produced by the body that is without reason, super special, incomprehensible and beyond our capcity to deal with and seperate the hype or meaning our mind gives it.

It then comes to the consciousness to be aware of the sensations and be discerning the correct meaning given to the sensations. It comes to the consciousness to definitely control the meanings given by the mind and if needed to do something, or not do something.

End (5860).
