Passion for an Itch, Carnal Passions Looked at - (3916)

What are carnal passions really?

Master Samael mentions that term "carnal passion" often in his books, as does Dante Algieri in the "Inferno" part of his literary work: "The Divine Comedy".

They are an itch that is felt in the body and we apply our passion or enthusiasm to scratch that itch.

Passion is not a bad thing, it is essentially enthusiasm. It is just where we apply our passion is the question.

If we put our passion into dissolving an ego we get some good results. If we apply it into pursuing a desire we get that desire fulfilled etc. which is maybe good maybe bad depending.

There is wisdom in that teaching that says we must chose our passions, our enthusiasms. A conscious person is always one who has before him or her the freedom to chose!

The thing about carnal passions, is that they are itches that the body feels (hence carnal), so we can feel them consciously, and then decide what to do with them. We don't need to blindly pour our enthusiasm into getting them scratched in a mechanically egoical way that won't help us.

We can  remove our attention from the itch, we can transmute our sexual energy, as most of these 'itches' are messages from our body telling us that the sexual energy is rising and we need to transmute.

In the end we are the ones who hold our enthusiasm and we can chose where we apply them. We certainly don't have to be ruled by mechanical tendencies, memories, pictures of comfort, pleasure etc. and allow our enthusiasm to be applied as they dictate! Let the work and our consciousness dictate!

End (3916).
