The progress of our inner work is ruled or rather organised by the law of seven, that is by octaves.

A Shock

To progress in our work we need to jump ourselves up to the next octave. To do this a conscious shock is needed. And to produce a conscious shock efforts and sometimes super efforts are needed.

Sacrifice is usually the modus operandi of producing a conscious shock. Realising that a sacrifice is needed, deciding in favour of the sacrifice and making the sacrifice and maintaining it take us to the next octave and settle us down in the new higher octave.
