This is a modus operandi of what we could call evil, that is evil hides behind virtue.
I have noticed within myself many times and at large in others, that evil - which we could call falsehood, ill-intent, foulplay etc. until discovered, all have the face of some kind of virtue.
The worst evil I have done, has always been this way - hiding behind some virtue...
It is often what happens with that expression: "the path to hell is paved with good intentions".
At the begining, that is all one sees - virtues. Later on the falsness or ill-intent show up.
In others we may see this, but not is not our concern or for us to care about. At the most see it and protect ourselves from it. What is greatly our concern is this happening inside of ourselves.
This is the main and greatest self-deception that we fall under: doing something evil (inconvenient for ourselves and others) hiding it behind a good reason or apparent virtue.
