Can’t Get Away from Reference Points
Fundamental to being aware is dividing our attention. To
divide our attention we need a reference point believe it or not.
When we divide our attention we focus on being aware
relative to something we are tracking ourselves against.
That something that we track ourselves against is a vertical
element - an element of the consciousness. Such as the breath, the second hand
of a clock, sounds of the moment, the thoughts being elaborated right now, in
short - something of the now.
The most difficult, the best and the most profound reference
point or focal point is then the most difficult is the consciousness itself.
Try this and you will see how it energise more than any else
your own consciousness. Focus on your consciousness itself. Consciousness
looking at consciousness and remain alert not allowing thoughts to interfere
and take your remembering and focus from your own consciousness itself.
End (2158).
