It is said that Buddha gave the teachings in the form of an outline and if more detail was needed the student was appointed a teacher, and the teacher would provide the details.
Master Samael gave the teachings in the form of a great synthesis. He did provide much detail. To though further break down the teachings into smaller and more detailed steps, as well as to provide complimentary information, hence the role of a missioanry or instructor.
