Metaphorically speaking all temples are constructed of four columns.
The four pillars of Gnosis: Art, Science, Mysticism and Philosophy.
The temple itself, the stonework, the paintings, the sculptures, the writings are art and science.
The methods, techniques and knowledge is also science. The altars, the deities, the activities of adoration, contemplation and prayer is mysticism. The wisdom, way of life, conduct, the history and teachings of the temple is philosophy.
If a temple is missing any of these columns, then something will be lacking in those that attend the temple.
Gnosis is a temple. Every temple is a refuge for the soul and a place of nourishment for the soul.
