Yawning and Laughing and the Human Machine - (1524)

Gurdjieff said that yawning and laughing are mechanisms of the human machine to; respectively gather energy and syphon off excess energy.

When we yawn our human machine is trying to take in a little more prana so to accumulate a little bit of extra energy.

When we laugh we are syphoning off excess energy. It is very common for people to laugh when they are nervous. Syphoning off energy when we are nervous makes the human machine more relaxed. That is the logic behind it.

End (1524).
