A Good Dose of Imagination - (2001)

An Inherent Property of Being

Imagination is an inherent property of our very own Being, just as is the Word.

If we are to reflect a little about the use of imagination in our daily life, we will soon see that we can't do without it.

Indispensable to Life

Let’s reflect a little now for ourselves. How would life be without imagination? The first thing that we may discover is that one, we would not have eyes to see. We would essentially not our eyes would we? Things would not have a colour or a shape would they? Because imagination is what originally gave everything in creation a shape and a colour. It is our imagination that perceives and understands what we see with our eyes. It is also what perceives the dimensionality of the things. It is what gives things their use.

How would we understand what people say without using our imagination, how we would think, read a map, think of the Earth, a person, a colour, design or create something if we did not have imagination?

How would new perceive ourselves without imagination? How would we have a self-image if we did not have imagination? How would we have memory?

We use imagination to think. Our memory is basically images (silent images) Without imagination we would not have thought and memory as we know it.

Reading a novel would be impossible almost without imagination!

Our Relationship with Imagination

Like the word. we all have a certain relationship with imagination. This is because it is a property of our Being. Like the word, imagination is an area of our life that we can awaken to.

In fact, we can not do away with imagination just as we cannot do away with the word, with energy, with force, with love, with light etc.

We are always using imagination, either consciously or mechanically i.e. subconsciously or infra-consciously. In the cases where we use imagination consciously, imagination works for us. On the other hand, when we use imagination mechanically, it can be working against as in the case of fear, lust, greed etc.

Self-Observation and Imagination

When it comes to self-observation we have psychological hearing and psychological seeing.

We in the beginning hear the thinking voice, which is also what the ego uses to think and express itself. As we develop our imagination we develop psychological seeing. Which gives us much more information about our psychology. It adds a new dimension of knowledge onto what we can know and understand about ourselves. This will make our psychological work more efficient.

Faculty of Imagination

Imagination is a faculty of imaging i.e. perceiving and creating images. It is the exclusive faculty that deals with images in the psychological and esoteric realms of our system (Being). This makes it a faculty of knowledge and also a faculty inherent in creation. Because the Being in us always creates.

A Causal Faculty

In other words, imagination is a causal faculty. It is a faculty used in epigensis. How is this you may be asking. Imagination is so powerful a faculty that it can set up certain internal states within us just like the word can and does.

Creates New States and Modifies Existing States

Imagination can create new states within our psychology and modify existing states. The word has the power to do exactly that as well.

Imagination can make our internal states worse and even our own psychology as a whole worse.

Affects Our Physiology

It can also affect our own physiology, making it better or worse, in other words we can feel fine and well or sick and ill depending on the use we give our imagination.

If imagination can make our physiology worse it can make our as physiology better

A Faculty that Creates and Transfers

It is a faculty that we use to create, to transfer to certain places outside and inside of ourselves and also a faculty to unite with a chosen being, cause, activity, occurrence etc.

Imagination is so useful when it comes to transmutation. In transmutation it fulfils its creative function and is used positively and consciously. Lust uses imagination a lot as well to our own detriment.

Working with Imagination

We must start our work with imagination by controlling the use the egos make of it. This is because much of our imaging faculty, is in the hands of the many egos.

Just name an ego and it won't take you to find out how that ego uses imagination.

When an ego uses imagination, it uses it to its definitive advantage. That use of imagination is totally definitive. Control imagination and you have firm grip on any ego.

End (2001).

Attention with Mind, Attention with Essence - (5197)

These two attentions are different. Attention with the mind tires the brain. and reduces the flow of life into steps, where it is inevitable that the narration of the mind begins to take over. With the awareness of steps comes a certain tediousness and the feeling of the flow of life leaving us behind. With the attention of mind very little of what's behind events comes to us... Attention with the essence brings the power of presence, in other words brings a certain depth and continuity of flow  Attention with the essence doesn't tire or strain and opens doorways into perceiving what is behind events and the thoughts and feelings that appear within us. It allows us also to flow with the flow of life, which is a pleasant feeling. Conclusion, make the essence bring attention to outer and inner life. End (5197).

The Sacred Substance Askokin - (962)

Introduction In simple terms, the sacred Askokin substance is the result of the mercury and the sulphur. It is the transmuted energy that crystallises to form the internal bodies (astral, mental and causal). In other words, it is the transmutation of our sexual energies. The Abrustdonis’ and ‘Helkdonis that Gurdjieff mentions in the excerpt below, taken from “Belzeebub’s Tales to His Grandson” are none other than the elements of mercury and the sulphur so spoken about in Alchemy. Excerpt on the Sacred Substance Askokin “I first learned that the destiny of beings arising on this planet of yours is chiefly to elaborate—by means of the process of their existence—the vibrations required by Nature for the maintenance of those former parts of the planet now called Moon and Anulios, when, do you remember, I became worthy personally to converse for the second time with His Conformity the then still Angel, but now Archan...

Wisdom from the Movie “Kingdom of Heaven” - (2168)

Introduction There are some movies that leave you with some pieces of advice that at point or another in your life or in the lives of others prove useful. This movie: “Kingdom of Heaven” was terrible to watch (too many battle scenes and people dying) but offered some very useful messages. In this post, I have presented a few, that have come in handy at point or another. Just to give you a bit of context, the movie is about the crusades, where the French and English were trying to defend the “Holy City” – Jerusalem from Islamic occupation. The topic of religion and God is a constant theme in the movie. It is very violent though, matching it frankly, quite awful to watch. Your Soul is in Your Keeping Alone An interesting dialogue between the French appointed king of Jerusalem and French Knight, the protagonist of the movie. Note, the king wears that metal mask because he has leprosy. King Baldwin I...
