Pride, Image and Balance - (2921)

Balance - Antidote to Pride

The antidote to pride is balance.

It is quite powerful really - how balance is the antidote to pride.

We often think humility is the antidote, but we are not too sure what humility is other than the concept of staying low, taking some heat, being quiet, obeying, accepting what comes etc.

But that is not really the case, humility is really not that - humility is balance. The remedy to pride is balance. Humility is to be balanced but because of the concepts that we have we can not equate humility to balance.

Image

Pride projects a certain image of ourselves and it also dominantly colours our self-image. By applying balance to the image that pride projects we can effectively neutralise it and bring it under control so that it can be separated.

The image that pride has of ourselves is not balanced. It is usually exaggerated in the positive and negative way. To be balanced is to have our image (the way we see ourselves) based on our actions, or based on the facts of our life.

The common theme of the image of pride is superiority. Identified with pride we see ourselves as stronger, smarter, wiser, more capable, mysteriously sought after etc.

If we can take the image that pride projects and apply balance to it we can see where it is wrong, and with that knowledge we can dissolve those aspects of the image of pride.

End (2921).
