For our free essence to accept the ego and get identified with it there are some benefits.
Those benefits are processed by the subconscious and we are not readily aware of them.
But we can find out. We can know them. It is really good to know them. You know why? Because if we can do that we can know what the ego really wants. It seems it always wants to cheat time. It wants to avoid enduring the suffering of time to get what it wants. Just know what it can't wait for and you have what it really wants.
The apology, the restoration of image, back in the good books, approval, etc. are some things that pride wants, and that it can't wait for...
