In the morning when we wake up, we wake up clear of meaning for the day and our life. Then bit by bit the layers of meaning for our life and our day appear, layer by layer.
It is so common that when these layers are slow in appearing we feel somewhat lost or despondent. Even as
The strange thing is a good cup of coffee helps to bring some of those short term those layers back and suddenly we have zest and meaning to face our day again.
The deeper layers of meaning are the big picture layers. These are the layers that cover us first. The worst experience when waking up when there is a too long a wait for these layers to appear or there is some hold up in their arrival, we feel such a profound panic in experiencing the void.
The consciousness replaces all these layers and lives out the greater layers of meaning with true life, not mere mental and yearning life.
It is also known in lucid dreaming practice that the dream scenarios are built up layer upon layer. This is observed when entering the first dream after falling lucidly asleep.
There are both layers of greater meanings and smaller meanings. We actually need both. When the smaller meanings feed into the greater meanings we generally feel a good sense of fulfillment.
The greater meaning of our life extends over our whole life and even far beyond it, especially when the greater meaning is related to the self-realisation of the Inner Being within us.
The smaller meanings are for the day or week. Unfortunately we get it wrong and live from smaller meaning to smaller meaning forgetting the greater meanings of our life.
What causes us grief is the gap between the smaller meanings. Within the gap we feel lost, bored, empty and confused. If the gap goes for too long we end up depressed or enter into unwholesome idleness.
The key is to know these layers of meaning. Then focus on the more meaningful such as the greater meanings and align the smaller meanings of the day with the greater meaning.
End (6038).
