Introduction
At a retreat a while ago a missionary gave a talk and he
mentioned the two kinds of will: inspirational will and sustaining will. I
found it very interesting and true.
We Actually Need Both
We need both of these two types of wills. One to start and
one to continue what has been started.
Inspirational Will
Inspirational will usually comes to us from an outside
source and fulfils the role of inspiring us and giving us the impetus and will
to start something.
Inspirational will comes from the masters, teachers, books,
movies, stories etc. It is what inspires us to change and take on new
endeavours.
Sustaining Will
Sustaining will comes from within us, that is, we generate
it and supply it. It is our result.
Sustaining will comes from us and it is what keeps inspiration going and sustaining itself. This will comes from our efforts and our changes.
It is the result of our inner work.
Conclusion
We start with inspirational will and go to sustaining will.
We have to be intelligent and make sure the hand over occurs within us, that is
inspirational will being taken over by sustaining will. If this doesn’t happen
we end giving up on our new initiatives.
End (1200).
