Many egos actually have their particular glory images. Have a look and you will see that. Nearly all of them like to bask in some kind of glory.
We all truly like glory, because real glory comes from the result of striving, will power, defeating adversity, hard work - sweat on the brow, persistence, tenacity, digging deep for renewed effort, etc.
It is the reward for facing reality and triumphing.
We like the glory but not what is before.
The role of fantasy is to make us feel the glory without the hard work.
The way nature and the law works is do the real to get the real. By the Law of Cause and effect, hard work equals a result. Fantasy does not equal real results.
So when we start to love work, the real, we are starting to put fantasy aside.
In reality real glory is only really a flash. It shines for a short while then withdraws with us into our essence, where we can enjoy the achievement within ourselves. What is longer and always present is the work to get it and maintain it.
So always the focus and love should be on the work.
