Selective Vision
Lust seems only to see illusions.
Imagine this scenario, a very elegant and beautiful woman
walks down the sidewalk of a busy city avenue. Traffic is heavy and a man in
his car waiting for the traffic to begin moving, watches her walking. Needless
the say the man’s attention is fixed on the lady and his percentage of free essence
is fascinated, thinking: “how good looking she is, how perfect, how remarkable etc.”.
Then suddenly, most unexpectedly the heel of the elegant
gets caught in the gap between two paving blocks and then then she trips and
falls face first onto the pavement, and with her fall to the pavement also fell
the illusion of her in the eyes of the man in the car. The illusion of her
being perfect, beyond ageing, beyond anything clumsy and unfortunate crumbled
as soon as she hit the pavement. Consequently, so did his lust and any
fantasies that he may have been elaborating.
Illusions
Illusions are what captivate and fascinate lust.
Lust thrives on illusions. Lust feeds on illusion and lives
in the world of illusions. That is why after lust there is always pain and disappointment.
What is real and realistic is not at all liked by lust.
The Key Here then Is…
The key to take here is that by keeping things real, and by remembering
the real, one can displace lust and control our level of identification or
fascination with it.
This key can be used a tool to break with the identification
or fascination that lust can hold over us.
End (1980).
