Beware the Good Egos - (751)

Introduction

The good egos are really something to be aware of, they certainly don’t appear in manifestation as ugly as the bad egos and they may not do as much harm as the bad egos, but we really need to be aware of them as they can get us into regretful and problematic situations principally with people that are difficult to get out of and are painful for all involved.

Difficult to See and Work On

Furthermore, the good egos if one has tried to work them, one will discover, that they are quite difficult to let go off and are difficult to see and recognise. One finds great resistance in stopping them because we see them as good and that we don’t want to be mean. But we have always to consider balance and balance is always the best solution and gives the most painless outcome for all involved in the short and long term future.

Good and Bad “I’s”

There are as you may know quite well, either from your own experience or from the study of Gnosis, that there are two types of egos. One type which are the bad or negative "I's" and then there are the good or positive "I's”. Of course it is the bad “I’s” that are the most dangerous for our esoteric path and can cause more harm to others, though at times it is worth while working on or at least evaluating our work in relation to the good “I’s”.

Problem with the Good “I’s”

The problem with the good "I’s" is that they, do not as Master Samael says, "know how to do the good". They are basically good intentions, and are limited to see or understand only one side, the good side. This is precisely where they then become unbalanced, because they are not the consciousness and they do not see the negative or bad side and so they exaggerate things and do too much good and that creates problems. Anything in excess even though it be marvellous, can create an imbalance and that imbalance creates problems.

The good egos are conditioned or bottled in the good and if we act with the good and go too much with the good or put the good in the wrong place we can do some harm. For example, giving lots of money to a very lazy person, would be prejudicial for that person because it would make them lazy, even more than what they originally were.

Good “I’s” Spoil and Pamper with Negative Results

So many problems with parents, children, teachers and students have been created because of these good “I’s”.

The good egos spoil and pamper people and create monsters in the people that they spoil and pamper. This in turn makes those that they pamper inept at doing themselves for themselves and it makes them devoid of responsibility and stunts their growth, and because of these negative outcome, all the dharma that one could get by giving to others is not earnt, because the end result is negative. A big waste of time and money ends up happening!

Summary – Good “I’s” Break the Balance

So in summary, we have the good egos, and because they are not conscious, they break the balance with the good. They do not see balance and the consequences of the excessive good. They usually break the balance by exaggerating the good, doing too much good, that is, by giving too much. These egos do not know how to do the good and they end up making things worse.

End (751).
