Working on Lust Entails Maturity - (1810)

Introduction

In lust there is a certain lack of maturity. This can be because we created much of our lust when we were younger and that lust has remained the same while our bodies have become adult. However, our sexuality has not matured quite the same as our body has.

Remained Petty

Many of our egos are like that, we created or strengthened them when we were children and they remain the same while we grow physically. Then being adults we cry, get into a fit, storm off just like we were children. This is true of our lust.

Lust does not mature it remains petty. I say petty in the sense of it being impulsive, wanting things instantly, not being able to accept no, being fixated and fascinated with body parts, objectifying people, being possessive etc.

Maturity

Maturity would mean to be adult enough to say ‘no’ to ourselves, to not accept unrealistic fantasies, to have a vision of people being whole people and not objects or a collection of fascinating body parts, to be able to see the whole wide picture and not a tunnel vision version which is only pleasure.
Adults weigh up consequences but children do not. Within lust there is still a very childish outlook that maturity can be transform. Obviously the more we embrace true sexuality the more we draw closer to our inner Being and obviously the more mature we become.

Maturity allows us to see things related to sexuality as natural and simple. Being embarrassed and shocked are things that children do.

Accepting the transmutation means that we have some maturity already, because we are able to see deeply enough into sexuality, that is see beyond the surface of pleasure and look towards the Being. Because we have maturity already we just need to extend it further to assist transform the childish outlooks, concepts and perspectives of the egos of lust.

End (1810).
