If not Everyone Likes Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed... How then can we Expect to be Liked by Everyone? - (1801)

Introduction

You know the ego of self-love at times can't understand why people don't like us. It has difficulty understanding this when it comes to new people that we meet, when comes to people that we have known for a while and when it comes to one particular person.

A Reality

If we look at the way people feel towards: Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed and some of the other great prophets, we will discover that there are those that love them, there are those that like them, there are those that are neutral towards them (perhaps don't even think about them) and then there are those that don't like or even hate them.

These men were really terrific, they showed through their actions that they really loved humanity, and in spite of this there are people who are indifferent to them and even don't like them.

This is a huge reality, so then if these terrific men are loved by some, regarded impartially by some and disliked by some, then we can't expect to be liked or loved by everyone can we? Especially when we have not loved as they have.

This is a hard truth for the ego of self-love to face, but it is a reality slapping us right in the face: we can't be liked and loved by others and as always with reality, the best thing that we can do by reality is to accept it and even love it.

Maybe Not Everyone Loved Them But Most Likely they Loved Everyone

That is the thing that we have to latch onto here. Not everyone will like us, but we can certainly like and love them, that can come true, but not the other way around. This is the truer side of relatively and duality that we must place ourselves in. The opposite side is against reality and being at odds with reality always brings upset, offence, suffering, sleepless nights, loss of appetite, restlessness and heart ache.

End (1801).
