Introduction

I think and feel that the first step in awakening is for the person who wishes to awaken is to come to answer with consciousness or true understanding for her or himself the answer to the following question: Who am I?

When we know in our consciousness the answer to this question our true awakening has begun.

Why?

Because we have to come to know what we are to awaken to, and we have also come to know how and where we are asleep, or in other words what we are asleep to.

Ok, Who are We Then?

The answer by the way to this question is you are awareness or consciousness. You are the awareness that witnesses the thoughts and emotions. You are the listener. of your thoughts. You are not the thoughts or the voice that talks in your mind. You are not your mind, your body, your thoughts, or your feelings.

Then What?

Knowing who you are you can separate yourself from your mind, your personality, your egos. Because the truth is we are not any of those things except our consciousness.

Knowing that you are the consciousness you can stop yourself from getting identified with your thoughts, emotions and egos.

Knowing we are the consciousness leads us to find our Being. The key to finding our Being is to first find our consciousness and then penetrate into that consciousness, where our Being resides.

Attention with Mind, Attention with Essence - (5197)

These two attentions are different. Attention with the mind tires the brain. and reduces the flow of life into steps, where it is inevitable that the narration of the mind begins to take over. With the awareness of steps comes a certain tediousness and the feeling of the flow of life leaving us behind. With the attention of mind very little of what's behind events comes to us... Attention with the essence brings the power of presence, in other words brings a certain depth and continuity of flow Attention with the essence doesn't tire or strain and opens doorways into perceiving what is behind events and the thoughts and feelings that appear within us. Wisdom from the Movie “Kingdom of Heaven” - (2168)

Introduction There are some movies that leave you with some pieces of advice that at point or another in your life or in the lives of others prove useful. This movie: “Kingdom of Heaven” was terrible to watch (too many battle scenes and people dying) but offered some very useful messages. In this post, I have presented a few, that have come in handy at point or another. Just to give you a bit of context, the movie is about the crusades, where the French and English were trying to defend the “Holy City” – Jerusalem from Islamic occupation.
