Introduction to the Fall of Man - (719)

Overview

Especially when we are a witness to the cruel and violent actions of human beings, the topic of the fall of man rises to the surface of our mind, making us to reflect. Given these actions we somehow suspect that humanity has fallen, and that human beings were not meant to be like this. We suspect that things are not the way that they should be, though how, when and why humanity has fallen to become like this, remains a mystery to us.

If humanity had not fallen there would be no religions. This is because the role of every religion is to raise man up to be with God once again. The very existence of religions and the current state of affairs with all the widespread pollution, greed, cruelty, war, famine and atrocity is evidence enough that we have fallen.

The more we think about it, the more we can come to the conclusion that we have fallen, however the questions: when, how and why remain, and because we can not find immediate answers, the issue of the fall sinks deep into the back of our mind to be forgotten and the concerns of the business of our daily existence take the forefront.

For any sort of writings regarding the fall of man to be complete, they should answer the three questions: when, how and why of the fall. Furthermore, such writings if holding the best intentions for the human being at heart, should not escape mentioning the consequences that the fall has had for the human being, and most importantly the way to altogether reverse these consequences.

End (719).
