The answer is quite a simple one.
Paying if no Escape
If we have no choice in the matter and we are forced into
certain situations with no easy escape then we are paying off a karmic debt or
going following through a karma that belongs to our store of karma from the past.
Creating if there is Choice
If we have a choice and we are free to decide to do or not
to do then we are on the cusp of creating or not creating new karma for
ourselves.
Conclusion
Many times in life we are faced with both situations.
The wisest thing to do in the situation where we have no
escape, is to go through with it and do our very best to pay the karmic process
of, so that when it ends, it ends being totally balanced out or at least a good
amount of it balanced out or paid.
The wisest thing to do in the situation when we are faced
with a choice, is to see the future consequences. Then decide. The best is to
not create new karma for ourselves, because it adds to our karmic store and
makes it longer and more difficult to pay off our karma, and of course our
future is the result of our decisions and actions carried out today. Act today
to create the future you want tomorrow, and we all want a peaceful, light,
happy and freer future.
