The Four Journeys in Kabbalah – (1130)

The four journeys mentioned in Kabbalah are:
1.) Descending
2.) Learning
3.) Teaching
4.) Ascending.

Two and Three

Usually 2 and 3 are done together. Descending refers to leave the Absolute and enter creation.

This first stage may take thousands of years. Descending through the various dimensions and planes of nature to finally arrive here in the physical world, the furtherest reach of creation.

The second stage is the journey of making many mistakes and learning from them. In the second journey of learning there is the payment of karma and of course the dissolution of the ego.

The third stage - teaching is about giving to others what one has learnt in the work.

Four

The fourth stage is ascension where one ascends definitely into the superior levels of the Sephirotic tree.

Most of the Gnostics are in stages 2, then there are some in 2 and 3 and there are even some in 4, but much less in number.

End (1130).
