Background
The following sentence has been taken from Master Samael’s
book, “The Perfect Matrimony”.
“The path of life is formed by the hoof prints of the horse
of death.”
I read it repeatedly and could never really understand it to a
level that was satisfying. But one night it finally dawned on me, after having
given a talk “Mysteries of Life and Death Part 1”.
A Meaning…
It is quite impactful actually.
I understand it to mean that our life follows certain steps
or movements (“hoof prints of the horse of death”) that are to take us to the
eventual death that has been written for us in the book of life and death.
If we are destined to give our last breath watching a
setting sun on the west coast of Africa then somehow the events of our life
have to take us there, that is to the west coast of Africa positioning us to
watch the setting sun at the precise moment.
Obviously for this to happen many events and things (perhaps even a life of events and happenings) must
have had to have taken place for this moment to occur.
You know, we forget at times how much preparation (hours of meetings, events, circumstances, fights, disappointments etc.) has to be made to make one moment happen. Look at a wedding for example, hours of preparation goes into it, all for the one moment of the groom saying "I do" and the bride saying "I do".

Hoof Prints of the Horse of Death
All of these movements are the hoof prints of the horse of
death.
This sentence says to us that really life and death work
always together and we shouldn’t separate them. Though we often do, we like to separate
them by ignoring death concentrating only on life.
Concluding Remark
In the long run our life is to take us to our death and so
in many ways our life is governed by our death, and that is why the masters
free themselves from death, that is why they have to, so that their Being has a
life free from death. This may not mean immortality but it may mean that the
Being in the master can chose how and when the death of the physical vehicle is
to take place.
As the initiatic path leads to the final liberation one must
at some point on the path to final liberation become free from death, so that
the Being in the initiate can have a life all to the Being.
End (1131).
