Whenever there is relativity in a situation there is the potential for pride.
When there is relativity there is a dual dynamic, with one party above another party or one party more in some way than another party.
As soon as we identify with either side that is being more or being less pride is present in us.
We don't need to pride to fulfill our role in either party. We just need understanding and respect.
The key to disarm pride is to know that we are not more nor are we less. We are just what we are in the moment and situation. Which is humility.
For example, teacher and student,. The teacher is more in knowledge. For the teacher to teach the student must understand and respect the situation and just learn.
The student does not need to feel less to learn and the teacher does not need to feel more or better to teach.
